Brian Costello gets arrested on multiple felonies while defending Grunin, Costello tries to assert his rights as "Sovereign Citizen" but the court is like LOL

Grunin see's all the great success Brian Costello just had in court with his "Sovereign Citizen" defense and decides to continue this defense.

The defense is such a success for Grunin he now has his own government issued air escort

He's basically fucked... time has run out.

Case Management Statement 8-13 Grunin

8. Discovery

Because Grunin has defaulted, no discovery has been taken in this matter. Facebook
intends to file a Motion for Entry of Default Judgment and does not anticipate that discovery will be necessary. Accordingly, Facebook has not submitted a proposed discovery plan.

11. Relief
Plaintiff seeks compensatory damages in the amount of $340,745.40, economic damages in a sum as yet to be determined, punitive damages in the amount of $1 million, and costs and fees as yet to be determined.

18. Trial
Because Facebook intends to seek the entry of Default Judgment, Facebook does not
anticipate that this case will go to trial. Facebook did, however, demand a trial by jury if the case does proceed to trial.

20. Other
On August 6, 2014, an attorney from Chicago, Andrew Gordon, contacted counsel for
Facebook claiming to represent Grunin. He indicated that his local counsel in California would be filing a notice of appearance within days, but no such appearance has yet been filed. He indicated he would be preparing to file a motion to set aside the Entry of Default. Facebook plans to oppose any such motions, and to proceed with its Motion for Default Judgment.

Damn FB slapped punitive damages in the amount of $1 million on Grunin too. I guess FB didn't like what they considered extortion by BRC and Grunin in using Grunin's as a copyright name. Also Plaintiff most always files a default Judgement so its really up the Judge to decide if it will be accepted. Even then Grunin defense can always appeal so not over yet. Wonder what finally made Grunin change his mind and hire a "Attorney in Fiction"?

He finally comes back to reality and realizes he needs a legit attorney and files this:

Doc#41 08/14/2014 Docket Text Motion for Pro Hac Vice

Although Facebook has already stated they plan "to oppose any such motions, and to proceed with its Motion for Default Judgment."

Looks like his California Attorney specializes in Criminal Defense and his Chicago Attorney specialize in IRS Defense. Definitley going to cost Grunin 6 figures in legal fees. Not like BRC flat rate of $500.

I'm no marine rocket biologist but I'd say from reading those past few docs - he's quite fucked.

Thankfully he's seen sense and instructed a real person rather than a cartoon character, but I think there's somewhat an issue of shutting the stable door after the horse bolted here.

Is there any chance his new lawyer will perhaps be playing golf with one of the judges soon? Of course the holiday will be on Gru's account I imagine. Oh... er...

His new lawyer situation is not much better.

Both of his lawyers have less than 3 years of legal experience. I can only imagine Grunin went with the absolute cheapest lawyer he could find instead of trying to find the most competent lawyer. We might not get the lulz that has been provided by BRC, but he is going to be represented by two people with virtually no experience.

Anybody who is serious would have responded to these charges with a seasoned lawyer who has a large amount (10+ years) of trial experience and has successfully defended similar cases, not an unproven lawyer who just graduated from law school.

And the tax attorney thing makes it pretty clear that Grunin is underwater with the IRS.

No proposed discovery plan? Odd.

Grunin probably paid his attorney with FB ad space.

The lawyer wants $20K and da Gru hasn't paid...

Citation to discover assets is on its way. Gru actually posted screenshots of his brokerage accounts as well as AMEX cards and statements.

I filed a complaint regarding the circumstances surrounding his solo accident with the NY DoFS and I finally got a call from his insurer this week (I am such a hater).

If I were him I'd be looking for a new country to call home.

Bankruptcy can't even help him at this point. If he stays in the US, he's going to be a slave, wage garnishments, fines, etc.

Facebook's lawyer fee is going to be huge as well, which Grunin gets to pay…

By far the dumbest reaction to the situation possible…..also getting nailed by the IRS for all that scam money he has to (eventually) pay back.
