I hope not.

As someone 40+

Ethics are different from 15 - 20 - 35 - 40. Ok, the actual ethics aren't really different, but the ability to recognize them and care about that will change, and hopefully become better over time.

Being my age, I know several people who have killed themselves under varying circumstances. They were usually people who did so in a moment of extreme duress.

Regarding people who should really kill themselves, they never do.

I might cheer on a suicide under certain circumstances, but this isn't one of them.

Yeah, I was out of line, but I've never known someone as self-absorbed commit suicide. I am a safe-bet as well.

You guys are not only kicking a 22 year old kid when he is down, but you are potentially helping to get him into more trouble than he already is.

I don't think he needs any help. He seems to have this whole criminal mastermind thing on lockdown.

Also, if he is dumb enough to still be publicly communicating with anyone about this then it doesn't matter what any "snitch" posts here, he'll probably just keep on digging his grave deeper all by himself.

For all we know, he's sending private facebook messages to people right now admitting guilt and the facebook lawyers are just reading them as they come in. He's clearly lacking in the critical thinking department.

What I'd really like to know is what evidence was actually collected to make this stand up in court? If it's like everyone here is saying, the sky is literally falling, jail, felonies, fraud etc...Someone tell me WHY the fuck didn't facebook go to the police/FBI, they go after crimes in the 10~K, wouldn't they have stepped up to the plate to help collect evidence PRE waving a giant red flag so Grunin has time to wipe most of it?

How can they prove it was Grunin sitting at the computer/registering those accounts? Unless they had a secret warrant to collect evidence pre-trial, what's to stop him from wiping most of such evidence?

If they can't prove the above beyond reasonable doubt, wouldn't the case falter? Is the plan just to slam everything they think he did against him and go for some kind of plea deal to get a precedent or example out of him?

Grunin seemed like a smart guy, did he really think he was above getting nailed for doing something on this scale, what was his exit plan? He seemed to genuinely enjoy helping out other members here, sure his ego was a bit much, but at least he got a lot of people thinking about money/investing... This isn't saying anything evidence wise, but it begs the question 'why bother?' Was WF in for a long con stemming from years of rep building, really?

Why does half of FB's lawsuit include bits from their TOS? TOS's aren't the law, and they're very shaky in courts. Are they hoping to create precedents to legitimize them with this case? If so that means all of us here are susceptible to a slew of additional laws that are every bit as legitimate as standard ones simply for a 1 second action of clicking OK on a website TOS that no one ever reads, a bit scary eh?

Nearly everyone put their favorite pair of righteous panties when the only thing we have to go on is a well written statement by FB and a NYPost article. I'd agree with most of you, if we could make a reasonable assessment of the proof.

Either way, cases like this are another hit against the IM industry, no greater repercussions can come than from the likes of corporations with endless money and governments with endless hopes of creating new laws, tit for tat.

Seriously? You think there is online anonymity? He lives in fuckin NY not Zimbabwe. They know Exactly what he did. Unless you think he's some super fuckin genius... but I mean, have you read his posts?!?

That.

I wouldn't discredit Martin at all. He didn't scam anyone on this or any other board, or his partners, his clients etc. What he did to Facebook is probably against the law and it wasn't the smartest thing to do this openly and brag about on forums, but I have zero sympathy to FB or any other big corporation or govt institute. They lost 350k and hell with them.

Shut up, stupid.

I don't know who the fuck you are but I just negged your bitch ass.

Of course I uderstand this. This is the problem of the business owners, not mine. They have all the means to bring scammers to justice, nobody could deny this, and they will be in their rights when they do so. Still that's their problem and in no way I would help them in this or label the one who scammed them as 'bad' person. Anyone who scammed his friends or partners with $10, or who, for example, sells 'get rich cheap' ebooks to noobs, or sells something like 'penguin proof' backlinks is in order of magnitude worse than the man this thread is about.

That's the problem of Facebook, and let them handle it. They wouldn't care about my problems, I don't about their.

Shut up, stupid.

The kid wanted nothing but attention, everything he's done has always been "LOOK AT ME!!" From his rented baller vehicles, his reckless crashing of the rest of his vehicles, putting his real name everywhere on the Internet while scamming, and then his whole wall street wizard act. He probably never made much/any legitimate money, it seems like everything he had was funded by his Facebook scam. He might have picked a few lucky stocks along the way with that money but he was willing to lie cheat and steal just to keep up an the high roller successful image he wanted everyone to see.

He's going to get a lot of attention in prison and ever dollar he has left is going to be gone. He'll end up being a convicted felon with no employable skills so good luck with your climb back.

It's called Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Martin wasn't in love with himself, mind you. He was in love with an image of himself. This false wall street baller image covered up a profoundly inadequate, shameful shell of a human with no self worth or integrity. NPD's love the lime light, even if it's fake and short lived.

Look, we got hannibal lecter here at WF

Thank you.

Pretty much everyone here is a cunt. Scamming a million old ladies out of $10 is just as morally reprehensible, if not more so (but their relative fuckedupedness is unimportant), then scamming a single wealthy entity out of the sum. Log into any affiliate network and 90% of the offers are trash built on deception or lies or fraud/rebilling or false promises.

These are the most common delusions of our industry:

1. The Rationalizer -- "I'm just doing it to build up seed capital" and "I'm just doing it because I'm broke" and "It's not that big a deal -- it's not like I'm arms trafficking"

2. The Toddler -- You're an idiot who thinks that things are morally right or wrong because they are legal or illegal respectively, or socially accepted or not accepted.

3. The Monkey -- It is less morally wrong to fuck over people who are not similar to me than it is to fuck over people who are more similar to me because my brain evolved to live in a tribe of a certain size and to trust those who are similar to myself and to fear outsiders and I am incapable of personally evolving past that.

4. The Nihilist -- There is no proof that any of you actually exist outside of my head. Life as we know it may simply be a figment of my imagination, 'we' may really just be my oh-so-very alone self, and perhaps none of this is real. So get fucked, mate

5. Mr. Monopoly Man -- You say things like, "It's just business. Business is cutthroat." I remember once reading the quote of a politician who said something like, "I refuse to believe that the goal of humanity is to maximize gross domestic product." Think about it. Your life is probably $mea, nin, gle.ss

6. The Nuremberg Defense -- "I'm just driving the traffic, the offer is up to the advertiser." or alternatively, "I just work here on the media buying team."

7. The Capitalist -- "If you want to stay competitive, you've got to ... (do something unethical) ... otherwise people who do the bad thing are just going to be able to pay more for the same traffic..."

8. The Bill Gates -- This is when you actually fool yourself into thinking that, once you've made enough* money, you will make up for your sins with your good deeds and God** will change his mind and let you into heaven. (* Enough = just a little bit more, ** God does not exist)

9. The Compensator -- You secretly feel like shit for rebilling people so you become a vegetarian and give money to homeless people. People call you "generous." The homeless people are not fooled and secretly they suspect that you are usually a piece of shit.

10. The Soprano -- "I do it to provide a better life for my family." This overlaps with The Monkey.

11. The Lawyer -- "Oh no, your Honor, I don't owe those people any money. My company owes those people money. I closed my company."

12. The Office Space -- This is when you think it's okay to screw over a corporation or entity because they are so large they lose their humanity and, understandably, your brain can't find any relevant empathy. This is sort of a subtype of The Monkey. It's like when you try to imagine the space a billion dollars in pennies would fill. You know it's a lot, but on some level it's just not possible to give a shit if Facebook loses $350k.

Whatever your personal favorite explanation for your diagnosably antisocial behavior, you sound like a child to those of us who are not living a lie. The ignorant may be better people than the arrogant but nearly none of those who claim ignorance through the above delusions are truly ignorant. You just sound like the dumb kid who thinks everyone around them is too stupid to figure out what he's doing.

Those who have accepted who they have become -- "I know that what I'm doing is not right but it allows me to live the lifestyle I want and I choose that over living a more moral life." -- are truly Gods among cunts.
