Blogspotter: What I have seen is that it takes much more effort to maintain content sites.
While I was busy busting my ass to make 100K.. I see 180-20 year old kids doing millions.. They do it outside Google... facebookso far and media buys and PPV..
There are several ways to make money online and yes, kids are making big time cash with these fly by night offers. I am married with 5 kids and I have bills to pay. The kids and I hope wife are not going anywhere and will need stability to have good lives. I am all about slow and steady (Just like when I make love) in doing my thang.
It is rather simple to study long term successful online entrepreneurs and find that most of them have super sites. Think Digg, Facebook, PlentyOfFish, AsktheBuilder etc. This is called online property that is built rock solid and can produce income better than just about any other investment out there.
Which is when I thought I am leaving too much money on the table.
I have content sites with thousands of daily PVs.
And I see that several of the CPM advertisers are Acai and Colon cleanse pushers.
Now on niche sites, I have blocked the Niche advertisers but on general content sites, the ACAI advertisers seem to beat google hands down..
Sure, but my experience is that you get burned on sales and conversions daily. I cant trust them to be honest. Trust is very important and I trust Google.
Long term the affiliate site might not work, but in the sort term if they are paying more than the future value of the long term content sites, what's the harm.. You get the drift right?
I don't know too many long term affiliate who make money off of just one website or 2. It appears that many go from offer to offer as one dies down. With Adsense, Google takes care of that.
webetricky: Nice thread. I have a couple questions...
Thanks bro.
You mentioned its good to find niches that pay a high cpc for ads. How do you know what google is going to pay you per click? Do you just look for high competition?
Erect knows his stuff. I look for niches that pay well and or are weak in competition.
Niches can be saturated has hell, but if they are all crap websites, then I am confident that I can build a better, stronger and more valuable site to take them over in the future. It is akin to being a marathon runner that no one sees practicing and working because they are too busy cashing their checks and looking at their shiny shoes. All of a sudden this unknown runner who just practiced, lived and died praticing passes them up just before the finish line and they lose the race.
Also, any tips on finding good trends that will be worthwhile? Chasing hot topics seems like a major rat race to me. I see how it can be profitable though.
There are many trends. It is all about self help websites, DIY, a green economy, divorce, debt help, credit repair etc. Chasing a hot topic is what most are not willing to do or wait for. Just depends if you have the patience and stamina to pursue these golden topics.
Andrew: Go back to your "can you really make money blogging?" shithole
Jesus where do these dipshits come from
P.S. set your permalinks you grand-a-day dumbass
Fricken comedy, SEO Blogging 101 #1: Change permalinks to /postname/. The first sign of a lying newbie is KC's blog with non SEO permalinks and that lame header that all the make monies online kids have.
Grindstone:
1. Adsense inside forum posts, they get clicked?
Hell yes! That is where I get most. These people are not internet marketers and mainly in their 35-55 range.
2. Adsense top left or top right, better ctr?
Top left as large as can be and at the end of each first post.
3. Damn d00d, if you're SE0ing that shit, make use of that page title real estate.
I am targeting news right now and am part of Google News. My home page is going after the news niche and some big players. However, I have made some mistakes and changed it a few times. I may just go back to Loans for SEO as my home page since my domain has loan in it and it is mostly a loan website. Yes, I do make mistakes and have grand illusions of beating big news players, but I need to think that out more.
For now, its is all long tail keywords.
yasirli: $1600/month , my friend get $10000 /month from google adsense...it's not a little money, well i think it's not easy and fast, my friend need 1 year to "Seo" his site then just shit on his damn chair and wait for google check.
So it's interesting, the point is "just do it and don't wait" ...(until you get that money)...
The facts are that not many people are willing to do that. If you know this and know most will give up, then that make it easier to stick with it and know that sooner or later, you will make it.
