Great post bro. Thailand is a pretty good deal except that you get tired of the human trash thai and foreign after a while. I recommend all of you moving to Thailand to quickly learn how to avoid scammers, lowlives, liars and sociopaths of which there are many in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket in particular.
On the street, just not where you are now. If there, just eat in restaurants instead. If you want to good street food head down to Thong Lor BTS and on the even number side is a soi just off the station with lots of good small street food places. Check out markets and impromptu restaurants all over Bangkok (just not Nana area). Nana area is a complete dump except for Soi 11. Just get outside that area anywhere.
People live everywhere depending on work in particular. I prefer Sukhumvit between Phrom Pong and Ekamai, which is also among the most expensive. Lang Suan road and the area around Wireless road is also very nice. Silom is the gay area but has a lot of good residential space, same with the Sathorn area near the river. I prefer Chitlom or Sukhumvit around Phrom Phong though, but these two are also the most expensive in all of Bangkok.

Get a better Visa such as a Education visa. The easiest is to fly to Udon Thani and go to Vientienne for some coffee and croissants and get your new Visa, then extend it at the Immigration Office after 3 months.

A few days ago so was I listening on the radio and heard a politician got 7 years in jail for slandering the kind, he got it shortened from 14 due to leniency of the king since it confessed. Freedom in Thailand - for a foreigner - comes from not being 24/7 subject to marxist, feminist pc bullshit which has completely pervaded most western countries. It's all the little things which makes life so much easier and more enjoyable, which in the west are either censored, illegal or regulated/taxed.
If any of this doesn't ring true with you, then I guess good for you, but freedom isn't about imaginary free elections and being able to call President Obama a cocksucker. In Thailand the rich make no attempt to hide the fact they are controlling the poor masses, which at least makes it honest. In the west, the elite wants to get all the way into your mind. They not only want to own your body, but the way you think, feel and dream. They push themselves into every part of your life all the way into your family as well.
Edit: Yes, I know Thailand has some archaic laws against slander and that free speech is less than stellar. I still think it is preferable to living in a country where the people in charge are dead set at destroying it through immigrations and spending on bottom feeders.

It sucks that so many amazing places in the world are ruined by their gov. Why would gay webmasters that rely on the internet for income, move to a place with so much internet censorship? Thailand doesn't really have laws. The laws here are more like "suggestions". All depends on the cop you run into, and what day, and who you are / know, and who he is, and how respectful you are to him, etc. There's loads of laws in the books, but the enforcement of them is totally different than in the West. Just keep yourself clean, always stay respectful, and you'll never have an issue with the law.

Notice how the uni students in the pics are fair-skinned with soft features? Conversely, at red-light districts you'll find dark-skinned girls (nothing against dark skin) with ugly rural peasant facial features (referred to as "Isaan girls"), poor education and lack of hygiene.
Not to mention ladyboys with near-perfect gender reassignment surgery.
