Life in Occupied Palestine

I don't really know anything about anyone living anywhere...

However... It's crazy to think that "non-violent resistance" stops violence, unless "non-violent resistance" means "it's ok if you keep kicking me in the head and you'll eventually stop out of boredom."

I'm sure we can trot out jesus and mlk as counter-examples... uh, nah, probably not.

Here is a video of life in Greenland

Not really sure your point...

She could use just her jaws to defend Palestine tbf.

(would definitely bang... but then I did have a bit of a thing for Kirsty Alley when I was young in the 80s.)

ty, I'll be watching this. The US media pushes a boner so hard for Israel that I know for a near certainty it's something someone truly educated on the issue would be against.

Thanks for sharing, good video.

Unfortunately, as the responses here seem to demonstrate, no one cares. Muslims are the new blacks. The group of people whom it is ok to discriminate upon.

I'd have to say a large percentage of the western world view Muslims, like blacks in days of yonder, as not really considered human. They believe this because of, as stated in another thread, 'common sense', ie the lack of need to see evidence to believe. If it is on the news, it is real. If not, it isn't.

Propaganda has won. And even though we are taking back the consensus of reality with the internet, it seems too little too late, the new 'net neutrality rules' will ensure access to such information for free thinkers will be VERY restricted soon enough.

If I was living in an area that was getting bombed to hell and invaded by a much larger military every couple years, do you know what I'd do? I'd probably move.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm assuming obtaining refugee status in various Western countries is quite easy is you're Palestinian. Generally, you just need to prove your life is in danger if go back home, which I imagine is fairly easy to do if your home address is in Gaza.

It is a sad situation but you either support Israel or you support terrorists.

I agree but the Israelis don't exactly make it easy to earn a living or run a business to get the necessary funds to leave. Also, I don't think it would be easy to get to the airport from what I've seen in the video. Heck, Palestinians can barely make it from one section to another due to roadblocks and checkpoints. (In the video, she mentions a pregnant Palestinian woman who was trying to go to the hospital but couldn't because she was at the checkpoint after 7pm. The woman ended up giving birth to 2 premature twins but they died because she could not get medical care in time.)

Well, not all Palestinians are Muslim. According to the internets, about 8% of the West Bank is Christian, and about 10% worldwide for those of Palestinian descent. (US Congressman Justin Amash is an American example.)

The Mayor of Bethlehem is Catholic.

Bethlehem University is Catholic and has over 3,000 students.

And on a related note, here is Pope Francis in Palestine :

Informative documentary OP,

Here's another on the subject with a lot of footage from the ground...

As with many other issues in the world, the subject takes more than a few documentaries to grasp or make judgement.

Just the check points are too much.

In reality there is no palestine and there is no israel.

Whether you force someone to use a different color license plate or force them to wear the star of david on their clothing, it doesn't change that they are human beings and it doesn't justify treating them differently.

How about posting some videos of how ISIS in Iraq treat people of different faiths there, or how about a glimpse of civilian deaths in Syria. Are you aware how many Palestinians were murdered and displaced in Syria, how about over 250,000!

I just wish peoples (usually pretty ignorant of facts) rage is pointed in all directions equally and not just towards Jews, as has been seen throughout history. You don't want them in your country so you throw them out or don't let them in, and what do you want them to do, go in a corner and die. Well they were placed in a corner but they refuse to die, how dare they!

Do they treat their fellow semitic brothers badly, yes they do, and settlements just provoke the situation and should be stopped and reversed in my opinion. But if the other side do not want to broker a real peace then its doubtful its going to end well for them. Don't forget that Hamas were elected by the people, even though the people knew that Hamas would never ever accept a lasting peace. Read their charter if you don't believe me.

In the end though its the children that didn't choose for this that suffer and this is awful, but by people putting pictures of dead and dying babies on their FB wall and raging at Israel only for it, you are playing right into Hamas's hands who are martyring innocent children for that very reason. Westerners who are putting these pictures up on their Facebook wall and sharing them are actually spurring Hamas on to think that this strategy is working and to do it more and more and are indirectly (or directly) contributing to these horrific deaths as well, whether you like it or not.

You are being manipulated and used in the most disgusting and cynical way and you need to take a step back and realise it.

If you see the protests (read riots) that are going on around the world at the moment you will see that they are not only targeting Israel, but all Jews. Using symbols like swastikas and words like holocaust and Nazis is not indicating any desire for peace, but just a desire for the eradication of a group of people just based on what religion they were born into.

Rage by all means, but rage against injustice everywhere in the world as I can tell you for a fact that Jews treat the Palestinians 1,000,000 times better than other Arabs are treating many other types of people in their own countries. When was the last time you saw an Israeli soldier playing football with a Palestinians head? When was the last time you saw the Syrian regime phoning people up to tell them their death squad was on their way?

Does it mean you don't have a right to be upset and pissed off? Course not, but where is your outpouring of emotion (and hate) to other injustices?

Also while you are raging about how "the Jews stole their land", how about raging about the Arab countries that drove out over 900,000 Jews since 1947 and made them refugees (the lucky ones who weren't raped and murdered)? How about speaking out and pressuring them to give the Jews their land and possessions back (valued at over 100 billion in todays money). Thought not, its only Jews after all. I guess you would be sympathetic if the same Jews went into Egypt or Iran or Algeria and started blowing up buses filled with women and children.

Stop the hate. Stop the killing. Peace is the ONLY answer!
