Is it true there is a plan to build a mosque complex next to ground zero?

Everyone needs to read "rules for radicals". Once you dig into this book, you understand why liberals, radicals, maoist etc. resort to name calling and personal attacks when left with no argument.
For years I would read and watch liberals and thought, "why are these liberals with ivy league degrees, so ignorant and stupid". Once I read their handbook, it all became clear.
I am not a fan of any religions, but for all of you defending this, ask yourself this question:
If it wasn't meant as the ultimate slap in the face, why would they be opening it on 9/11/2011 (as if the location wasn't bad enough)?
Also, do any of you not realize how Muslims everywhere will see this mosque as a monument to victory? Religion is all about symbolism, and the location and date are the ultimate symbol. They had better be careful because I would expect someone that lost loved ones in 9/11 to blow that place up - count on it. That's like spitting on the graves of every one that died there on the 10 year anniversary when emotions will be especially high. Good luck with that...

I didn't see anything about a date anywhere on their site. Even if that was the date, the same can be said that it can be seen as symbolic message for unity.
People are always quick to jump to conclusions, I think it's always worth taking both sides of the coin into consideration.
If that's true, then the whole point of this project just became crystal clear. Whoever's behind it is giving a big "Fuck You" to Americans; quite frankly, I'm surprised city officials even allowed it.
Oh well shit, if they are claiming its just a big sign of unity on their website, then that's what it must be. If they meant it to be a monument to the terrorists and a big fuck you to New York (and America), then I'm sure it would say so on their website.

Assuming it's not a hoax, every person with a half of brain should understand that it's just a money making venture. Kinda like selling berries to fat morons. People organizing it know that the Mosque will never be built there. But that doesn't stop them from raising money for the cause of building it. Just imagine the donations raised from all the (poor and gullible or rich) Muslims around the world. Especially those who dislike the US. That's their target market.
And it's a win-win situation for the organizers. When they fail, they'll be able to talk about how the US restricts freedoms of Muslims on its own soil, and how the US really isn't all about freedom. My guess is that would be the secondary selling point when soliciting for donations.
The more noise they can make, the better.
