I have this question,

All my friends and work mates are around 24-30 and all of them are talking about buying houses and they think they are getting old and need to invest in a house or property/

I on the other hand do not give a shit about it, all I care about is investing my money in my business. I just think about investing and growing it either through my business or stocks.

they are thinking about buying nice cars and houses whereas I am all about business.

Also my work mates are always reading things and thinking about implementing it for clients, whereas when I hear about it, I think how can I leverage that for my business instead of for the company I work for.

WHat you guys think? I am too selfish or an idiot or smarter than others?

It seems like your friends' ideas involve much more than one dollar, maybe you should listen to them?

Good luck bro

but you probably think it's all so unstable and who knows what'll happen in 3.14 months, right?

No that's the thing, a lot of things i do are calculated risk. I m working just to build up contacts with the industry leaders. It is much easier than cold calling them. At my role I get to talk to Directors, CEOs etc. but I don't give a shit about buying a house. I like to see my money double.

I also get a blood rush when i make a sale even though it is a $1 profit.

Hmm...

I, too do not believe in buying houses and cars, but to each his or her own.

Cars are mostly status symbols, all I need is something to get me safely from A to B and I'll happily use public transport when available (and reliable).

In Stoicist philosophy there is the idea of taking yourself out of the social game, "keeping up with the Joneses" and I think it is a worthwile concept.

For the average person, buying a home is one of the worst purchases you can make. It's not like it's 1950 and you buy a house in so cali for 20k and sell it for 400k, 30 yrs later. Most people if you think about it, never actually end up owning their homes anyway, they lose them or are still paying on their 2nd or 3rd mortgage when they are in their 50's and 60's.

Your thinking about making more money by leveraging your current assets, skills, and growing contacts, while they are thinking about spending money and putting themselves into further debt and chained to loans and property for the next 30 years... Yeah, I wish I had a business partner like you. Trust me, you're the smart one. When everyone is going west run the other direction. Your trying to making more money, they are trying quickly spend it. Wait 5 or 10 years, and then come back and look at there situation and then yours. You know what's going to happen, fuck the writing is on the wall. Go and talk to anyone that became a sheep and went down that route they are going down, ask anyone who mortgaged a house and bought a nice car 5, 6, or 10 years ago. Ask them to advise you on your situation, I guarantee you they would ALL jump at the chance to be in your shoes. This road we transverse is a LONG and lonely one, but it is less travelled. Stick to what you are doing. You're very smart, and they, they are sheep/cattle and they are going to get slaughtered - you know how you know cause there are people lile you and me, rising and going to the top, while they fade into the crowd.

Good job bro.

Putting your wife and children into a house? BAD IDEA
Not having a wife or GF to worry about? BOWSE
Owning an appreciable asset? BAD IDEA
Reinvesting all of your money and not taking any profit? BOWSE
Screwing over the hand that feeds you? ONE DOLLAR IDEA/TRAGEDY AT THE COMMONS

Here's the thing though. These guys probably have girlfriends in their prime. They're spending money to secure their relationships because, for real, no man is going to go nesting unless he has a girl to keep happy.

While you may do the smart thing, as you get older, the gap at which you can find attractive, non-married women gets slimmer even if you have more money.

wth? You're goal is to looking for "attractive" women, I mean okay, but I for sure I thought, you would go down the "love" routine within this comment. But there are chicks turning 18 and 21 EVERYDAY that are more "attractive", than any 35 or 40 year old. If your only evaluation of a woman (future wife material) is the "attractiveness" level, then you're essentially buying an depreciating asset, like a car. That 2003 Benz E550 was the topline... in 2002 of course. I mean, when they are 50, 60, 80, or whatever, are you seriously going to stick with them because they "were" "attractive", since they no longer are? If you are looking for a life partners, finding a woman that is willing to sacrifice the sheep-life as well, and you've got yourself a keep. Just finding a woman who is "attractive", is a waste of time, money, and your overall life.

Good luck bro.

Attractiveness in the whole bundle, otherwise I would have written physical attraction or sex appeal.

Women who are not married by 30 are mostly either fucked up with lots of baggage or unattractive (physically). Even though most WFers think they'll be balling out of control, it's still not a sure thing to be able to convince a young, wife material girl to hook up with you if you're an old bald man. Money isn't all that counts to women, shocker I know.

I would say don't put all your eggs in to one basket. It is always wise to diversify your money so in case your current business fails you still have a backup.

I'm not sure in which part of the world you are but here in India investing in properties is very much popular. You can find everyone (ofcourse who can afford to invest) investing in apartments, villa's, farm houses. And all these investors are from variety of ages from 23-25 to 40 Y old.

Further don't know about your culture but here everyone have a dream to own a home. So IMO home should be the very first investment for an adult to do if he can afford it. I'm not saying DO NOT invest in your business but put a balance in investing your money and diversify your investments for the betterment of your future.

This.

You're fucking dreaming if you think at age forty you can find a hot young twenty-something who will marry and have crazy sex with you just because you have a few bucks in the bank.

Waiting to marry is a bad, bad idea, none of my married friends (and none of my close friends have gotten divorced, go figure) figured they married too early, but a few wished they gotten married earlier.

But what the hey, don't listen to the old man on the board. Go to nightclubs, get the wrong impression of women from the skank that hang out there. Even better, stay at home and watch porn, all the better to pick up tips on how to land the perfect mom for your future kids.

Just buy a fucking house already and quit lining your landlords pockets each month while depriving yourself of an interest based tax write off.

If things go on like they do and you have a good euro income today, you should think about to invest the next 1-3 years in houses build in $ countries.

As it seems, the $ will be devalued in the next time against the euro.

Why and how - read about it - its mainly a game by the finances - its something we can't change and what we even can't really understand because the infos we all have are for sure not the infos you need to fully understand it on a serious level.

But there will and was no better times to buy for hard euros cheap US houses.

I have no idea how long that will be true - but as i understood it its only a matter of time the euro will be devalued too and the gap will close - AND the house prices in the US and other $ countries will start to rise again.

I'm see a lot of non-entrepreneurial minded people here. You guys are more worried about being alone in life, than making money - so that's your end game. So get in line, buy your McMansions and you BMW 3 series, and get started with your fucking upside down mortgage payments. Fall in line. I need more people to sell to.

If your goal in life is to get married, cause everyone else is doing it, then do it. If you want to get married cause you're in love, and all that marketing bullshit, then do it. But, if that's not your goal in life, then go down the road less travelled - I never said this road is going to be easy, it will be tough, lonely, and mind-fucking, but if you stick with it, and become financially secure, hey you achieved your goal, if that was your goal. It all depends on your end goals. No one said for a moment, OP can't find a woman/life partner that wouldn't be happy with what OP is doing. It seems that people have this mindset, that the only way to get and keep a woman is to get a fucking mortgage. Are you serious? That's your life gameplan? Are you honestly telling me that no women understand the entrepreneurial mindset? I live in Miami Beach, so all the shit you guys are talking goes out the window, but maybe because of where I live, I don't know where the fuck you guys are finding your women at.

The American Dream is NOT about getting a house, car, wife, 2.5 kids, and white picket fence. It's about being able to want something, put the drive and energy behind it, and achieve it, PERIOD. Having the ability to do anything you want, is a true goal. If you want the house, car, wife, and 2.5 kids, then do that shit, but from what the OP state, That's CLEARLY NOT HIS GOAL, Financial security sounds more like his goal, but what the fuck do I know. I started a business when I was 23 and never regretting any of the bullshit everyone else's lives are filled with. Look these idiots on Facebook all day, all they do is complain, and all I do is win...

Good luck bro.
