Seriously, I wouldn't bother with anything other than vBulletin unless you can't even spend $200.
 
The security problems with phpbb were too much for me. I switched all of my forums to vbulletin.

If you're utilizing the long tail, you may not have that kind of cash for each forum upfront.
 
I want vBulletin, but I never have any money, when I develop DrawingForum.com though I will. PHPBB annoys me.
 
wow i never that there were so many web forum software out there all i really knew off was phpbb and invision which i curently use.
 
I used to like IPB because I already knew it from being admin on other forums, but I've found vBulletin to be SO much better.

After vBulletin, most all other forum softwares look bad to me lol.
