How do you suggest that they PRESENT that data to you? Via Q + A type format? Via keyword result format? Via category format?

just like google imo, i like how it's set out, just need more relevance.

How about displaying the results as a number of Category points. Example:
you enter in DOG

The result would be

Definition of Dog
Pictures of Dog
etc

Would this work? What's a higher level of granularity that search consumers would like?

i think ppl like a instant search, instead of having to clarify it, maybe as an extra feature it could work.

One that learns what you find relevant. So it would classify similar types of results and what you click on and recomend results that it thinks you would be interested in. Bit like a built in spam filter.

If it's to do this it must have a pretty buff proxy and duplicate IP detector cuz people might want to GAME the results.

How about showing only results that are NONCOMMERCIAL in nature? Is this possible? Or desirable?

I wouldn't want more features, but better optimised and redesigned versions of current features.

However, the Google Personalised Search feature is excellent.

How many non .edu and .gov websites are really 100% non-commercial? Just about every website has some sort of advertising on it.

And also, I wouldn't find that desirable, there are plenty of times I search for things where commercial results are what I want. Anytime I'm looking to buy something really.

Sounds a bit like Tivo, but in SE form.
