If You are Considering NameCheap You might want to Read This

I have had ONE experience with namecheap in the recent past, I went for their 5 dollar domain deal, became a member, searched for and found the domain I wanted, purchased and nothing.

Emailed them, nothing.
Checked my bank account, no money transferred.

I figured if they can't even register a domain properly, they will surely fuck something up down the road so I bailed on them.

After reading this thread I will just go in and delete my membership altogether.

Did you purchase under your true IP? I had an IP switcher activated when I purchased a domain from them and had the same thing happen. I live out of the States so I need my IP switcher activated for alot of crap.

Sorry, I meant Internet.bs.

I deserved to be dickrolled

Hey thanks for the update been hearing about them for a while (probably from you) and guess its time to give them a try. Is it easy to move domains in and out? Do they fuck you on the renewals or offer constant promos like the (godaddy or namecheap)

I'll wait for a mod's response to my question about linking to another forum just to show
a response. Meanwhile, a NameCheap rep replied to the OP's post there:

You ordered transfer of 4 domains to Namecheap, three of them were successfully transferred but transfer of the fourth domain failed due to Invalid EPP code, as a result, funds for the failed domain transfer were automatically refunded to your Namecheap account for you to easier re-submit the transfer from your control panel. We offered you to refund that amount to the payment source in case you did not wish to re-submit the failed transfer. However, you initiated "Non-receipt dispute" in PayPal for the whole order while it is technically impossible for us to cancel transfer of three domain names.

Just...as I thought. Sigh.

While it might be better to just refund the amount if the transfer isn't successful, there
are cases where the customer wants to restart the process if it failed. It might be more
practical, then, to use the funds within the account.

But...at least the option to refund is there.

this is top company imo. i never cheked if they refund on fialed transfer tho as i have alot of money stored in my NC account. i had some problems but they always fixed em sooner or later.

I've used namecheap for years and had only one problem where a .uk domain name was not renewed even though they took my money and their control panel said I controlled the domain. Six months later I found out the domain was in someone else's hands but it's partly my fault for not double checking that the domain was renewed properly and for assuming namecheap wasn't run by a bunch of incompetent goofballs reselling enom.

I'd still recommend namecheap over godaddy though, especially to newbies because I don't want to be cursed at by people swindled into buying all those needless overpriced addons that godaddy pimps. Namecheap's customer service has been quite responsive too, I got a full refund for my lost domain and they also set me up with a permanent discount only offered to people with over 50 domains as compensation for my loss and aggravation.

Namecheap is fine.

You got to follow up with domain transfers though, unless you don't really care about the domain in the first place. I mean wtf, it's common sense.

Just don't use them for hosting -- a newbie mistake.

Domain transfers are problematic in general. It is usually the old domain registar that has created a problem.

Complaining to the company that has not caused the problem will do nothing.

dude when you copy/paste something from another forum at least check if the font color looks right.
Also fake sig is fake.
edit: oh, the sig seems real after all, that's funny, because I didn't get links in sig enabled yet..

Nothing was cut and pasted moron.

I didn't notice the sig file... apparently someone has hacked my password here. So I'll have to change that. Some people run businesses, some people create problems for other people.

Yes I am a newbie. I registered my first domain in 1995.

The OLD registrar did NOT create this problem. NameCheap did.

I posted this message for people who want to know the difference between a legitimate registrar with real customer service and a wannabe registrar whose sole business model revolves around poaching GoDaddy customers. They don't even have a legit address. They use a Drop Box at Regus HQ.

So if you are just so smart, keep using them. You'll find out after SOPA passes just how great they are. You should get out of your mom's basement more often.

No registrar would do that unless they are certain you are cheating them. They really dont give a damn about a single domain unless its a multi million dollar name that is backordered.

Create a case study of the event. Present it to them formally and mark the director on the mail.

If you can get it attested by an attorney, do it. This however, if you feel that the domain is valued to undergo so much trouble.

Right? Have you ever tried to communicate with some of the DULLARDS they have answering mail?

Certain I am cheating them? How exactly am I cheating a company that screws me over then won't refund my money?

So your paying $300 per domain?

No I am not.

And you are VALIDATING THE POINT OF THE POST. NameCheap will steal your domains and is not a good registrar.

I posted this as a Warning to others... but apparently there are many brilliant people here with nothing better to do than bad mouth me for making a legitimate post for the benefit of others.

Paypal dispute against NameCheap....lol OP lol

Well I paid with Paypal. Would you suggest I file a complaint with American Express. Your post makes no sense at all.

Actually I make money from a lot of Affiliate programs that only pay with Paypal. I use that money to pay for registrations.

Am I missing something here... you are insulting me because I chose to get my money back using the same method I paid with?

Blackhatter. Nice. But the FACT of the matter is your experience has been very different from mine. I don't know what Top Companies use Mail Box Drops as their primary business address.
