I think WF Should Send Matt Cutts Flowers

This thread got some nice humor and nice needless fight (someone wants to dominate here ... lollzz) -

As long as this isn't a mean attempt to troll the guy, this is actually a nice idea. Shows that we're nice guys even though we try to game his search engine.

If this is not an attempt to provide him Paypal email addy's so he can trace link buying with, I'm in.

Excuse me but wouldn't sending an arrangement over $100 trigger Matt that we're still making money?

just makin' sure you're not working for the man now. ;>

Please Sir, We spent the last of our SEO earnings on these flowers. Please reverse the SEO updates.

Love,

Wickedfire

can we put bees in the flowers?

The name was not used publicly, this isn't a publicity stunt, and I'm not trying to capitalize on the name of this forum or anything of the sort.

It's a 3x5 index card with a message of condolences to someone in our industry who has suffered a personal tragedy.

As far as backsplash goes, I suppose it's possible that anything can go sideways, but I really don't think a flower delivery made in good faith, with sincere intentions is going to get away and somehow fuck things up.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and they aren't set to be delivered until Monday, so if someone messages me, I'll cancel the order and give everyone their money back, but I really hope that this isn't an issue, because I was really just trying to do something nice.

It is a really nice gesture, dude, and I admire you for making it and I hope it goes fine. I'm not trying to shit on that.

I totally realize you aren't trying to capitalize or profit from this personally, but your statement that this act isn't public is a bit disingenuous...

You're making a written statement on behalf of a commercial business without their express approval, and I would have an issue with that if one of my people did that within my organization, that was my only point.

The motives behind the act are to be applauded, I just think it may have been best to make it on your own behalf, or on behalf of the individuals who donated only.

Instead, you made it on behalf of the community at large, of which I am a member, however much that may annoy the "Professor".

You didn't ask me if it was OK either, but luckily I don't mind, and it wouldn't matter if I did...

I don't own WF, you see?

See, a statement is something public, like if I did a media buy and put out a bunch of banners that read "FORUM X SAYS BLAH BLAH BLAH"

I didn't do that though, what I did was send a private note to someone, on behalf of a subset of the population here, who are readily identified by their participation in the thread you are posting in.

You seem intent on making this into some kind of a negative, which is unfortunate, because if you keep it up, I'll start sending flowers to people in your name.

Seriously though, just let it go. If anyone has a problem with it, they can contact me, and we'll sort it out. You don't need to take it any further than you already have, and I hope that you don't.

lol, I'm going to order an arrangement from FTD, so unless he's got some in on their data, he's not going to know anything about who sent it.

You can PM me for my paypal info if you'd like to donate.
I think he does actually, I've seen their analytics data used in one of their seminars at Adtech London before.

Really nice gesture though Ice. Shows that behind all the tits and black jokes, WF does have some class.

During WWI on Christmas, British and German soliders had a truce and celebrated together only to fight against each other another day.

Props to you i2e, wish I had saw this thread sooner. I don't know why some of you guys see Cutts a sworn enemy, you should thank him (and the other engineers at google) for swatting away the wafo/bhw crowd and sending them back to work the register at burger king. Unless you're lazy, stupid, or both you benefit from the barrier to entry being raised.

2. Next time you want to send him something friendly like this, I have his home address; could have sent the flowers there instead of Google Headquarters.

You mean I have his home address.....:thefinger: It would probably freak him out if you sent it there though.

Went to facebook after this thread, Matt decided he would come along too.

Not what I meant bros- I think the gesture was an excellent one, and I would totally have kicked in for it if I'd seen it in time, but hey... This may be a community, but it's a privately owned one, and that is the point.

Before you go out and use someone's business name and trademark publicly, especially when there's a potential for backlash, which I can completely envision here, then maybe... just maybe...

You should ask first?

Backlash? WTF? We just sent this guy a four hundred dollar bouquet of flowers to express our sympathies for his loss of a loved one. There was nothing negative, no hatred or joking.

"WHO THE FUCK SENT ME THESE EPIC BEAUTIFUL FLOWWEERRRSSS AND THIS NICE NOTE??!!!! :boid::boid:"

If you ever want to see a more pathetic bunch of sheeple, look no further than here. Was this Matt Cutts dying? NO. His father? NO. His grandfather who had nothing to do with anything? Yep.
BAA, wickedfire, BAA.

This thread is two parts respect for enemies, three parts ironic cynicism, five parts heartfelt kindness, nine parts Stockholm Syndrome, and thirty parts gay webmaster.

Should send on the name of Trolls Union instead. Somebody take permission from EskimosWife
