The second quote may be misleading. Every victim subconsciously want to be victim. Maybe you want to be honest. Maybe you want to be good. Maybe you want to hurt your enemies and you want justification, plus you don't want to be a hypocrite. It's libertarian syndrome. If you do well you got sympathy, but that's not how life works.
Humans out of selfish interests want to befriend the strong and crush the weak. They want to look the other way around. That's why we have so many bullshit justifying the exact opposite of what's going on.
After realizing this, I see that I should just be nice to those who are nice to me and avoid rather than fight those who are evil to me. In other word, you can't be too idealist. Think too much of right and wrong and you're screwed. Be good, but be reasonable. Don't judge.
