How would you promote a new search engine?

Say you come up with a VERY VERY good new search engine, how would you promote it?

My ideas so far: ask for recips from people submitting their sites to the engine

This of course assumes that the search engine has some method whereby the other search engine spiders can access the search results - It is possible but depends on the method.

Does this search enginge have its own spiders or is it a metacrawler?

That's true. Regardless, there are substitutes for capital as well. That's what's so awesome about the Internet. Ideas + scripting + time = capital.
