Don't use your real name and/ or photo on the sales page. Visitors don't buy from people with Islamic/ black/ other ethnicity sounding names and pictures.

For example, would you buy something on the Internet from someone if you knew they were named Mohamed (Muslim) or Tyrone (black) or Rajinder (Indian)?

Of course not. We all have these built- in biases. On you sales page, put up a generic name that doesn't sound so foreign (eg. John Fisher) and if you're going to include a photo make sure it's a generic looking white guy from Europe or America.

You'll see a 10 fold increase in sales.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just saying this is how you have to play the game to survive.

You Bet! :P

Its a racist world out there.

But I really dont care putting up my real name in my sales page, people come and buy from me because i offer something unique which they really want.

I focus on retaining my client base and offering something unique rather than swapping identities to push sales.

Just me 0.02 cents

I have a "foreign" name.

Maybe that could be my problem ha ha.

I am European though, so sometimes I do use my picture.

This would be true unless you were marketing to Blacks or Indians, etc.. They would probably trust you more if you were one of them. They never trust the white man cuz the white man is always trying to bring them down.

And no offense or anything, but if you're saying people are racist, then I wouldn't use a jewish name as an example for a good trustworthy white guy. One of the biggest racial stereotypes about jews is that they rip people off.

I have bought services from a Rajinder and a Mohammed.. didn't think anything of it.

But hey, I would recommend you test different names -- you might find muslims flock to your site to buy if they think your name is Mohammed.

I'm probably not representative of the majority of sheeple, but I have no problem at all buying from anyone of Asian, African or Martian origin! (But then the majority of small convenience stores over here have been run by Indians or Pakistanis for the last 40 years or so.)

I do however find myself really put off by anyone using themselves to sell a product (i.e. selling themselves as opposed to the product). Unless you are selling your own services, photos and names aren't necessary. I may well be wrong, but I think they put off more people than they encourage to buy. For most products a company name will sound much more professional.

If you are selling yourself and the services you offer then honesty will pay in the long term - if you hired say a writer or programmer and later found out they'd lied about their name and nationality would you trust them to be honest with you about other things? (Honouring a confidentiality agreement for example.)

what he's saying is, rename your contact name to "Georg W. Bush" and people buy whatever you sell. even if its obviously not working.

of course that works only for u.s. traffic. :P

you really should try this with ebooks on dp. i bet you make millions over night.

yeah noone wants to shove $1 in Shelly Randall's tittys... they want to shove them in Candy's tittys

just like you call india and, even though you cant understand a word that bitch is saying, his name is somehow 'Phil'

Why can't people ever spell my name correctly. J-O-N... not J-O-H-N!

I mean come on.. aojon.com and my fucking username on here is everywhere, it's like taking an open book final exam and failing!

I don't think there anything in the name or making your sales 10 fold by changing the name or the picture. It's all about what a website offers and whether it’s genuine or not. I've personally dealt with a lot of Muslim, Black and Indian online traders and never had any problems and didn't even think in that way in the first place but yeah I must say that it totally depends on person to person as one can’t change the thinking pattern of a person.

Yea dude ask Shakespeare about this. He'll say name does not matter. Maybe you should not place any name in your page, put this quote below and we will see sales increase 20 fold

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
