Any tips on getting a Chitika account? I applied twice and I was turned down. They kept saying my site does not get enough traffic. They are looking for sites with 10,000 monthly page views?

Mike

Yeah, its a bit tedious - you just have to keep trying.
Stupid, of course, because once you do get approved, you go and put it on all the sites they rejected.
BTW, I found they had a low return - if you aren't US based, they promote obviously US programs and they just don't convert for my principally local traffic (putting 'Walmart' on an ad will not encourage an Australian to buy, dammit)

I would work on getting 10k pageviews a month, then you can actually make a little money when you do get accepted :)

don't waiste your time with the fuckers! I have sites that were in the electronics industry, laptops cellphones etc and when they started out I was getting about $.50 a click. I would make $350 to $400 a month. after audit I would have lost around $100. I took the crap off my sites because they are now paying around $.22 a click and loosing $100. tell me if over 90% of my traffic is from the USA and I have a script that will not show there ads in countries they don't support do I have any traffic to audit? and get support from the fuckers, aint none!

Hey mike,

one of my hosting customers got turned down for Chitika, so here is what I did for him:
  1. As said above, say you have 10K+ or even 50K+
  2. Now while your process is pending, pay a little visit to their support desk and open a ticket saying
Hi, I just opened a Chitika account and wanted to let you guys know I also own the following sites each averaging nearly 10K or 50K+ impressions on a monthly basis.
  3. List all the sites and which category websites they are.
  4. Remember to give them your full name, website you submitted and your E-Mail Address (also use the same address that you submitted to create a ticket, otherwise they might not reply).
I got a reply in around 2 days saying that they didn't know the extra information and shouldn't have rejected the application since other sites on the list would have been accepted and they went ahead and approved the application:)

Chitika is pretty much shit anyway, chrislingle has it right. I wouldn't worry about them turning you down. There are better/easier ways to make money.

Well it's not like 10k/month is a lot of traffic..

btw, I removed their links bacause they didn't make me any money..
Well I think it has to do with the type of website you offer, if it's a marketing site, Chitika would be perfect for it :)

I also think that they have better payouts than AdSense in my opinion...

sixty6, you are dead wrong! I had an account last oct. when they started, they were fine for about 4 months then they just got stupid. if a publisher said something they would jump 10 feet but ignore the advertisers. they suck, I used to like them but look at the numbers sixty6 they started in electronics and paid well now they pay crap!

I really don't mind them, for some of my basic sites they're giving around $5/day when AdSense gave less than $1..

Also are you saying publishers get more attention than advertisers:
