How could the US economy recover?

Ron Paul is great, but he will never win b/c he doesn't have enough "coho-nays"
Ron Paul has more balls than nearly all of Washington put together.

The problem is that votes like to be fed a steady diet of lies and superficial faux masculinity.

It takes real balls to do what Paul has done in his political career. It takes no balls to lie and make empty promises, and to stand for nothing.

But as usual, the values of the votes (not the politicians) are the problem. People get the government they deserve. Obama was elected. Bush was elected. That's who the people want, that is who they got.

Are you fucking kidding? Who has more balls than Ron Paul? I will simply direct you to reread what Guerilla said:

lol reminds me of his "no" votes on congressional medals (Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, etc.), aid to Haiti, etc. Paul definitely has guts to spare.

From wiki:

Ron Paul's nickname "Dr. No" reflects both his medical degree and his assertion that he will "never vote for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution." This position has frequently resulted in Paul casting the sole "no" vote against proposed legislation.

Paul not only goes off the reservation, I don't think he was ever visited it. :)

You posted this elsewhere. He hits it at 2:16:

Ok what i should of said is he's not aggressive enough ... he definitely has balls to say what he says, to bernanke, and anyone else. but the problem is that he just gets walked on by other politicians, he doesn't have the "power" like they do. He brings up excellent points, and talks about stuff that we should be talking about, but he's not as aggressive, and i think thats his flaw. He's like a beta male against all the alphas

At OP:

Read.

Then, read more.

Then, read a little more.

Then, take a break.

In a year, you'll be amazed at your insight.

Here, Here! Ron Paul has a TITANIUM Nutt Sack.

Just a note for all the self-perceived political know it all's and mouth breather's blowing hot air, do a little research on Carroll Quigley - and read Tragedy and Hope.

And then research who his "pupils" were... that coincidentally became involved in Politics. This is a real eye opener about the Left/Right , Dem vs Repub, liberal vs Conservative facade that has been perpetrated against us.

Gotta go now and add another layer to my "tin foil hat".

Can you give an example of another politician (not the President please) that you would consider to be more "powerful"? As far as aggressiveness, he doesn't have to yell and shout because he simply argues with facts, not hyperbole and party lines.

I think the term you meant to use was "Power," not balls. No point for a terrier to be aggressive in a cage of Lions, right? That would make him Lunch.

Have you ever watched how politics works? It's all about dealmaking, with other politicians and in the end all power above the position your seat affords you is made by giving others your vote.

That's exactly what RP won't do. So he certainly has my respect for voting the way he does, despite the fact that he never, ever, ever will get any form of real power on the job.

This is essentially why he can't win, too. But at least his conscious is clear.

you hit the nail on the head. i love the guy, and wish he would win, but this is his downfall.

for example, i remember back in the 08 election, there was a debate b/t him, mccain, mitt romney and whoever else was going republican. Ron Paul would come out w/ the most valid statements ever and the rest of the politicians kind of laughed over what he just said making him look bad. and thats what 90% of people see and think "wow this guy has no idea what hes talking about" the other 10% know hes right, and then have to be disappointed knowing he won't win

It's not his downfall. It's what makes him special and gives him credibility.

He's the only honest politician in Washington and everyone knows it. That might prevent him from being President, but it doesn't prevent him from shaping the national debate.

Step 1: Nationalize the Fed
Step 2: Withdraw funding from imperial overseas adventures
Step 3: Pass a 1% Tobin Tax
Step 4: Ban derivatives
Step 5: Reissue the Frazier-Lemke Act
Step 6: Create Tennessee Valley Authority style projects in every state
Step 7: Recreate a Public Works Administration and a Civil Works Administration
Step 8: Force the Fed to issue a few trillion in zero percent credit to industrial production and job creation, 100 next-generation reactors, 5k miles of maglev rail, lunar mining, etc.
Step 9: Tell the UN, the IMF, and the World Bank to go fuck themselves
Step 10: PROFIT

Holy fuckshit, that's a lot of DC ... democrat much?

Also, don't attack customers-it's bad for business.

Guerilla has been our resident badass long before he was pushing that crack. If he weren't such a gentleman, you'd be a mere shell of yourself after this thread.

"How to Kill The US Economy In 10 Easy Steps..."

Ok, now I'm thinking of my own .... I only see 4 necessary steps

Step 1: Minimize DC to White House/Congress/Senate/Supreme Court and that's it, no more department of __________.
Step 2: Allow states to create their own internal currency & set laws to whatever standards they want. Basically, make states compete with each other for citizens/revenue.
Step 3: Abolish all existing national taxes, replace with flat tax (cap ~1%) that covers what's left of DC + military. States can raise money however they choose.
Step 4: Defer to JakeStratham for the rest of the details

Exactly. My uncle retired early cause he could collect unemployment. He says why work if they will pay me to not work?

I don't blame him but its a f'd up system.

Are you serious?

In Texas, the maximum unemployment benefit is about $800/month. In my house that's grocery money.

Step 2: Allow states to create their own internal currency & set laws to whatever standards they want. Basically, make states compete with each other for citizens/revenue.

My vision of a Utopia. That would cut out so much that is wrong with American politics and really do away with pork and waste.

Wow, this concept is totally worthy of a thread all it's own. Or even a whole Forum.

What could be the possible downsides to this? Converting Texas Dollars to Oklahoma Dollars? -We've got the tech to keep it all digital, at least.

If the states were basically "allowed" to be so different from each other, then basically the CSA can exist as they had wanted to, (minus slavery, I'd suppose) and better yet, ONE of these fifty states would finally be a cool place to live, matching up to my individual needs and desires.

  • Southern states could have untaxed cigarettes.
  • Mass could be the new education center of the world.
  • Kansas could incentivize the hell out of it's farmers without raising the taxes in Maine.
  • States that use illegal labor can legalize it while others keep them out entirely...

I friggin' love it. Stupid ppl would flock to certain states and smart ppl would flock to other states. It'd be like a lifestyle buffet with 50 items on the menu!

I guess one downfall though is after time, states would be likely to 'declare war' on each other. 50 different Cultures would emerge (a good thing IMHO) but with so many differences tucked so closely together is going to cause some friction...

Great idea. After awhile, we could call it "Europe".

somewhat complicated if should say ride and stable as when it used to, too many American interests are more inclined to get out of the affairs in the country, we have a president but to make policies on other countries
