That's why I suggested products to be launched later in the year - no-one will be ranking for them apart from the news sites for the moment.

Here's some more ideas:

-Apple digital textbook (apparently apple is intending to launch something to do with the textbook/education market at an event on Jan 19th)
- 2012 Lego Star Wars Sets (on sale Jan 23rd)
- Wii U (release between June and Dec 2012)
- Playstation Vita (released in Dec 2011 in Japan and due for release in Feb 2012 for Europe and North America)
 
Conspiracy/end of the world is the winning category so far. Plus it's in the fucking contest title. I don't see why we're even arguing...
 
Something that hasn't hit the market yet, but ambiguous enough to pick a term no one is already into. Plus, it's far enough into the future our sites will not be out of date for a while.

And, it's possible that we could do something that is both conspiracy and actual product. Fallout shelters did pretty well back in the 50's and we didn't even have internets.

Because there's a lot more fucking money in selling people tablets than ebooks on 2012. Epeen is nice but I'm all about stacking that cash.

The whole point of this contest is epeen.

If people really wanted to make money they should build a site in a niche that has absolutely nothing to do with this contest so they aren't competing against half of Wickedfire.
 
I vote for future product as well, sounds like a good idea.

Whats the deal with explaining your methods - do we just let people analyse our sites themselves or are we expected to lay it out in the contest thread at the end?

Well there are shitloads of products on conspriacy/2012/esoterica... it's not just about ebooks bro.

TBH, I don't give a fuck about the niche we choose, for as long as it's not the kind of keyword that would require too much work and content because remember: we only have 60 days!
 
I also hope it's not a niche I'm already heavily invested in.

Niches to stay away from:
- Recycled/used Fleshlights
- Mormon webcam sites
- Instant water, just add water tablets
- Kosher pork products
- Torahs written in Arabic
- Crotchless burkas

anti-sopa is always ok though that shits just evil and we could get media attention which could gain traction -
maybe we can instead of a contest make a joint effort on this SOMETIME TO BE DECIDED IN THE NEAR FUTURE ( preferably by mod initiative if they give a fuck ) as everyone or almost all of us is bound to lose stacks if this passes
