Does the new picture placement next to the ad blocks look ok? I'm always confused when people say put pictures above or near ads. does it really work?

Just added it late last night.

As for traffic, does anyone have ideas how i can get more? I'm going to start working on that soon.

Hi there.
Yes, the pictures are OK right there. You might want to give them a bit more horizontal spacing on the right, but you can just leave them as is.

This technique works because the human eye is attracted to pictures.

Here are two more tweaks, but I guess they have more to do with overall design than CTR imporvement, but then, everything helps, eh?

You might want to tone down the black rating boxes. I just used the grey you have on the side in this quick photochop. I also changed the value of the "Hot product" to a rich yellow, instead of the pale yellow.

I also noticed that you have a small white border around the ratings- Change that to the light gray you are using for the rating - text background.

You should be doing fine with your ads now. Please make sure and report in a few days, as this will also help others.

haha, you guys really DID help a lot. not only on ad placement, and image fixing up, and image placement, and article format,...but also on clicking my adsense=P the other day, as I said, i had about a $2 jump! i was so excited....haha but then yesterday back to 80cents..now to 57cents!

as for traffic, where do you buy articles from? elance and such(if such, then please do suggest other places=D) and also, more importantly, i'm confused. Do you make the people write articles for you and somehow give you an incoming link so that you get lots of incoming links? pay about 10-20 dollars maybe do it 20-30times a month...or what? Can someone explain the whole process to me?

Juniodude, 2 things, 1. be carefull with the images next to adsense I believe without some sort of space or border with the ad it is against the google tos.
2. find A, B, C list blogs that talk about ipods, engadget etc. and take your info from there. sure make it your own but that is all they do so why can't you do it? also find the companies that make ipod accessories etc. and watch them every day!

Jan, not sure why the post here but I notice you are using the crap from google called blogger. stop! invest less than $30 get a hostgator reseller account and buy a couple of domains for $3 each from ipower. hostgator has this great thing called fantastico witch will let you install wordpress. there is a thing called spamcarma that stops spam for you. hell if you are blogging for dollars who cares about comments. the return traffic is not were you make your money. the search engine traffic is were the money is at.
Juniodude, there is no such thing as a saturated niche if you do not want it to be saturated. I am in the cell phone and laptop game among many others and getting very good traffic. The thing is if you are doing this white hat you are in a 18 month to 2 year project. Take your time and write about what is out there TODAY! find sites that post as soon as something is out and watch them several times a day. The thing I love about the blog and content business like you are doing is that most people drop out in the first months. I have been at it for 8 months now and my traffic has gone up over 400% month over month on every blog I have. $ has keept pace as well. don't use amazon cause the cookie lasts 1 day.

I agree! I have an account, I just don't know what to do next! I'm just waiting for my son and I to have some time free at the same time so I can learn the next level from him. I've been called an "extreme" and it's true...I have SO much to learn. I do spend 66+ hours at wage earning at this time. I have NO knack for this so I have to be rested and focused to learn. I will...it's just a slow process.

thanks for the tip chrislingle. when you say "sure make it your own" blah, blah blah, are you saying that it would be okay for me to take another site's info and simply paraphrase it and use it as my own content?

My impressions:

Use 4 images instead of two, how they align with the 4 ads of the box unit. I know every once in a while the ad unit only displays 2 ads, but usually not.

Other than that, reading the reviews in a static blog format is kinda wierd, like having to scroll all the way down to get to all the reviews. Maybe provide some anchor links at the very top?

thanks possibility, i can definitely see what you are saying about having to scroll all the way down. so you think it would be better if near the top, i just have anchor links to all my reviews(inside each category) and then under that leave it in the same format?

I was wondering guys, I put my adsense under my welcome message thing. Is that better? I also added 2 images next to ad block on main page

edit:unfortunately i am bad at HTML, so i might need to figure a way around this, but what i did was put adsense in my post to make it seem right under the welcome message. i probably need to figure a way to put it under the whole post so that it will still appear on all the categories pages(under the first post).....the single reviews, and articles, and search adsense are still there, just not under the categories if you guys know what i mean.

Anyways, it won't be much of a problem if the adsense isnt even optimized under the welcome message, but if it, i'll have to find a fix.

Watch, wait and find out.
At this point, it is all about experimenting.
Change a thing, watch a while, see how it does.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

You are misssing out!

DUDE, where are my ads?

I just noticed that you do not have as many ads as possibleads on your blog posts.

Well, go into your blogs templates now, young man and change that.
Either put a link block or a banner rectangle under each heading.
Yes, google only allows 3 ads on every page, but they'll just stop after 3.

This might then look like this:
adblogs01.gif

or like this:
adblogs02.gif

Basically, you are missing out on hundreds of ads right now.

Done this, been there.
Basically, taking a blog with 200 entries, you'll have the following ads:

Index page: 3ads
Archives (Assuming 1/2 year) = 6 months = 6 pages *3 = 18 ads
categories: 10 * 3 = 30
Individual pages (loads of people arrive here from SEs): 200*3 = 600 ads
------------------
651 ads

As opposed to what you have now:
Index: 2ads
Archives (Assuming 1/2 year) = 6 months = 6 pages *2 = 12 ads
categories: 10 * 2 = 20
Individual pages (loads of people arrive here from SEs): 200*2 = 400 ads
--------------------
435 ads

Basically, you stuck the first ad under the page header, now stick one more under each POST/ARTICLE header.

You might think of ditching the left hand ads in favor of the in-content spaces. I'd use that space for "featured posts" "THE BEST IPOD CAR ACCESSORIES!", followed by 5 nice product affiliate links --> amazon, shopping, com, whatever. Basically "Linked product --> ichargethe best, The best charger", "Linked product --> isoundthebest, The best speakers", etc..

PS. Who guesses the site gets a free cookie.

Wow,..awesome, awesome idea.......i have to definitely jump on this...i'll tell you when i fix it up, maybe u can look at it again just to make sure i understand what ur saying? Thanks EMP,..u have been posting in here and helping me out a bunch for so long! man...thanks so much!

Hey guys,
i have a quick question, for some reason, the adsense url to the sites don't show up. does anyone know why?

What do you mean? MAybe you just need to re-publish the *entire* site, not just the front page.

::emp::

PS: Don't forget to add images to the ads. :) BTW: Maybe make the border blue? Not too light, but then, google just wants a border, right?

emp, for the border thing, would i have to do it through photoshop or can i do it in html? right now it looks like this :

<img style="width: 55px; height: 55px;" alt="Ipod FM transmitters" src="/wp-images/products/ipod2.jpg" bordercolor="#0066CC" border="1" >

I'm trying to get the border color to be 0066cc, but it still shows up as black. maybe i cant do it through html,..i don't know, i'm kind of new to all this=P

put it into the style statement:
<img style="width:55px; height:55px; border-width:1px; border-color:#0000CC;" src="etc....

::emp::

eh...still having trouble with it, but dont worry yourself over it..such a trivial thing and you already have spent so much time trying to help me out=P I'll probably try to work it out if i have some time this week....for now, i changed the text to black,...does it look to out? do you like the grey better?

Juniodude, you are missing a big ad placement on individual pages without having an ad at the top of the page. you should get on that asap!
