You gotta understand where I am coming from. I already wrote a clear and concise response directly to you in the LP Lockdown thread. Then it was re-posted by someone else to this thread.
You're asking me to explain myself, when it seems to me, everyone already knows what I am talking about. They seem to have a crystal clear understanding.
I think you're one of the brightest folks on here, so I am really thrown for a loop by your confusion about this.
I don't see it, but I do see the Red Herring that has been going on this whole time.
The strawman is, no one is claiming Nicky abused his mod powers.
The
REAL claim is that the behavior was inappropriate for anyone and mods should be held to a higher standard.
If doing what he did was acceptable, then Stanley can turn external sig images on so the rest of us can do it.
If it was unacceptable, as turning the external sig image linking off would indicate, then where is the accountability?
Look, with external sig images off, regular peons can't easily scrape without posting images all over the forum. But Mods? They only need to sit in the realtime WHO IS ONLINE panel, and scrape IPs, locations and activities. They don't even need to go into the mod CP. They can just leverage their higher permissions level assuming that is one of their permissions, which I suspect it is.
That is what I would do
IF I was the sort of guy to scrape from a community of my peers in order to sell that back to them later. It's way more efficient, I can capture more IPs and I can also get all sorts of other interesting data about their activities, relationships and interests.

So the whole "this won't happen again" deal is bullshit imo.
@everyone, Jon made it pretty clear (my impression) that he isn't going to do anything about it, and Nicky doesn't seem to be too concerned either, so that's the way it is. Caveat emptor.
Anyway I have wasted enough of my one day off on this crap.
