Grieve's Affiliate Marketing Journey into Success or Squalor. Most Likely Squalor.

Varies from 60-260. Crazy how much variation there can be by hour/by day/etc.

I am heading to my "offline" job right now.. where I make minimum wage.. and I can honestly say it feels like absolute torment. I'm making more in a day than I make in 2 months there. I don't want to quit yet though, because as other's have said, I don't want to just be a 1-hit wonder. All I want is 1 more "successful", scale-able campaign like the one I've been working on now, and then I'm GONE.

Next step will be to find trends in this data. Pause campaigns or raise bids during certain hours or days to increase cvr and roi

yeah dont quit until you have to. There are a couple threads i think on sts where guys quit and 3 months later went cap in hand to beg for minimum wage job back  Dont be that statistic, also for the love of god dont splurge on anything like a lambo / boob job for the GF / fancy watches / thai hookers. I may sound like your mother but trust me on this. That $$$ will really come in handy further down the road. Get more streams of income, test the shite out of e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g and when thats done test again.

I completely agree with you and that's how I'm going about it. Trying to stay smart regarding everything. I'm not quitting my job until I have at least 2-3 offers running at a time and I feel really confident. The reality is, though, that I've made more in 1 day (4 days in a row) than I would have made in 2 months at my current job. Still, I can't quit and I know that. And as I'm typing this I found out the offer I was running was killed because the advertiser isn't paying! Perfect example right there :)

Also, regarding not splurging. If anything, the sudden surge of money has made me even MORE frugal than I already was before. I haven't spent a dime of it on anything but this offer which in turn brought me even more return. I think it's going to take a very long time and a very large bank account before I can start spending any of that money on myself. I have really good discipline when it comes to that.

Thank you VERY much for the advice! Much appreciated.

grieve,
Good job staying focused despite ups and downs. That's what separates the winners from the losers. Someone else beat me to it, but I also wanted to say - don't go quitting your job until you feel 100% confident that you have at least a few campaigns going that appear stable enough - and when you have at least a few of months worth of living expenses saved up just in case to fall back on.

Hi Grieve, congrats on scaling the campaign to such high ROIs!

Seeing as you've joined STM, would you say it could have saved you a shit load of money if you'd joined it from the start? Or do you think it was important for you to go in 'blind folded' first?

I'm currently just waiting to get started... yeah I know that sounds like Im putting it off, but I'm a poor student and pretty much need to wait till my next loan installment in January before I have enough monies to test a campaign :(

I'm going to keep checking your journal though as it kicks ass!

Congratulations Grieve! I can't even guess at the level of instincts and expertise you're starting to develop now after you've put the time in. It seems to take successful people about 3 months to make a dime, 6 to a cover-your-bills profit, and 8-18 to reach a comfortable, well-diversified life. Keep plugging away man you must be stoked!

I think it's really easy to fall back on hindsight and say "DAMN IT, WHY THE FUCK DID I START OUT IN THE US/UK/AUS WHEN I WAS SUCH A GOD DAMNED NEWBIE??"... but I honestly didn't know SHIT about this business when I first started (and I still barely do...) Fuck it. I didn't know anything, and I was just trying what I thought was right. So.. would STM have save saved me the 600 or so I lost testing in terribly unfriendly markets? Probably. It's hard to say. I think if I could face George-from-3-months-ago I would definitely punch him in the face and tell him to join STM.

Does that answer your question? ;)

wow, I took a break from reading this thread and just got caught up a bit.

congratulations man!!!! I knew you'd stick to it and everything would turn around.

fucking awesome.

Grieve,

PM me with exact questions if you have any, I just logged on now and I already have a few PMs to respond to.. getting on that now!

Couple general tips:

-Do you not exercise? Start. My days of clearest focus/longest streaks of attention are days that I exercise. I honestly can NOT stress enough how important this is. No need to crack yourself out on a bunch of OTC medication.

- Want it bad enough. If there are other things you'd rather be doing, just give up. For the past 4 months I have spent every single free minute of every single day doing something that in the long run was in some way beneficial to my AM efforts.

- StackThatMoney/Wickedfire. That's all you need. Both have helped me plenty.

- Learn from your mistakes! This blog has helped me do exactly that.

- At the start of every day, make a game-plan for what you're going to do. Not just a "Okay today I'll definitely get some campaign going and I'll find some images." Write it the fuck down, and get yourself in the mindset "I'm not doing ANYTHING else until I feel like I've done what I've wanted to do today, and more." I have been constantly telling myself "Think about how bad you want this, George, and make that fucking happen." Over. And Over. And Over.

If anyone has any other questions, just ask.

I haven't had much time to work on things the past few days, EXTREMELY busy, and that has left me pretty damn anxious to start working on stuff. Given my work ethic, I know that means 10-14 hours a day as of tomorrow of working on new campaigns in order to "make up" for the time I've lost. I will have another profitable campaign up and running very shortly. I want to break 1k/day profit consistently more than ever.

I couldn't agree more. Working out puts you in the best condition both mentally and physically. You get a sense of accomplishment after a workout that translates into what you are working on.

First post here, but I have been silently watching for the past two weeks learning from your experiences. Great work to say the least! You're killing it dude:music06:

Thanks :)

Thanks Dude! My biggest obstacle with ALL of this is tracking. For someone who is not technical there is a TON of ancillary learning required just to tackle that obstacle alone.

Keep us updated.

Also, have you considered testing a landing page ? If so, what is your reasoning (pros/cons). Thanks.

congrats grieve! if its not too personal can i ask how much you spent before you hit a profit? i got into this affiliate marketing round about the time you started this thread but i didnt have the money to throw on ppc.

since then ive saved up a nice little kitty whilst working on some SEO projects, just wondering how much you had to spend before you saw a profit. ive had a bit of a go at it for the last 2 days with two 30 dollar campaigns but yet to even see 1 conversion. but because of this thread i have faith!

once again congrats!

Around 1000 dollars on Facebook before things started to work out in my favor. This is not including hosting costs.

Thanks.

Tracking, as in... figuring out how to use prosper202 to your advantage? Prosper has a ton of really helpful tutorials.

I have not tested any landing pages for dating. Simply heard that there's no point to it.

Excited to say that while I had a great holiday weekend and all, I was able to get absolutely ZERO work done and I'm not happy about that. But now, with the weekend coming to a close I'm going to be working full-force on getting another profitable campaign up. As always, I will keep everyone here updated. My first profitable campaign was LARGELY due to a friend that I met through Wickedfire, and we plan on working together on an interesting little project that I may shed some light on in the coming days. Stay tuned!

I can officially say I can replicate my success ;) More to come soon. Thanks for all the support everyone. I really appreciate it. Does anyone reading this know an extensive amount about obtaining a business card/registering a business?

Figured I'd update everyone.. this will be a disappointing one though. I've spent the last 2 days NONSTOP fighting with the facebook approval team trying to get ads accepted. Nothing so far. I've gotten 3 ad copies out of the 26 I've been trying to get in. All of these images have been accepted before without giving me nearly this much trouble. I'm hoping it pays off big-time. Really anxious to get my next campaign going.

Some AWESOME ROI man, congratulations on there. I came back to WF to get inspired again and get back on track and you have done just that for me ;)
