Google Glass

At least it will mean douchebags will stop holding up their mobiles to record concerts. For solving that problem alone I wish Google well.

The ideal heads up display is just a really really advanced information retrieval device. Google is in that business, so it makes sense that they would make this.

The amount of data they would need to make some of the examples in the commercial work, and to make similar features available for other very similar uses is pretty mind blowing.

That being said, this thing looks retarded and im sure its annoying to use. However this type of device could be just the fix that the modern information addict is looking for.

If they pair these with some more stylish glasses like Oakley or Rayban, this could have some traction.

Some stylish Oakleys like this?

That's the thing with google. They have kickass products but alot of times they're not aesthetically pleasing or just not really marketed well.

now imagine walking down the street and being able to look at that instead of the ugly people on it.

that's why I'm getting them.

Or fuck that - let's step it up, someone will make an app where all the people you look at can be avatarized :) Talk about mindfucks. Walking around a town full of zombies baked.

Oh come on... you know what i mean. There is not the competition, not many who have enough $$$ to hit a big market like smart phones, or game consoles.

Could happen if a group would raise the money etc....

I am also wondering after steve jobs died... who will even swing for home runs on new products, any innovation would be great.

P.S. im not a occupy wall street anti capitalism tent dweller... wearing designer clothes surfing the web on my iphone.

Bottom line: I would like to see more powerful ideas, and taking more chances...(even if it was on more limited scales... more expensive products, in more limited production to show innovation....for example vcrs were areound 1,000 when they came out.. limited in production more expensive...

Apple could do this, they have the money, and could say these products are more BETA prototypes.. more expensive with no guarantee of updated os etc

Limited Edition, prototype, more expensive yes... but they could show more innovation... the car industry has there prototype stuff... why not limited production more innovative products?

Thats the point. They become so big that mr. nobody can't enter the market and compete with them with better design and a better product. They build up a monopoly in a certain niche then stop innovating. They do what apple does. For every new model you simply ad 2-3 new features that should be standard and pass it off as this new great thing.

I'll be curious to see if china follows the same model when they catch up. Hopefully they will start releasing real innovative products instead of holding back technology, but I doubt it.

Then go invent something better, hit up the big players with it, and license it out to them. If they believe there's a demand for it, and they can make decent coin with it, they'll pick it up.

And what do you mean there's no innovation in technology? Wasn't very long ago when tablets were something for the future, and we thought this was a kick ass phone:

And so the inexorable slide towards a species which pays no attention to its surroundings at all because it's too engrossed in a hallucinatory digital world continues...
