Good Bye Firefox

I'm starting to get out of memory error messages though so I'll soon upgrade to 16gb or 24gb of memory. I'm also considering getting a 256gb SSD, but I can't force myself to do it when I could get 4 2TB hard drives for the same price. :P

Are you actually running out of memory, or just for a specific program? That's usually what those messages are for because they use a set percentage of the total memory. You can change the allotted amount on a per program basis.

Oh, and wait 1 year and that SSD will half in price for the same storage. That trend has been happening for the last few years. In a couple years, SSDs will become the must have since the cost will have dropped so much on them, forcing them to become the norm for hard drives. Right now, it's just not worth the money for that extra 1-3 second less delay in accessing files and 30% faster bootup.

What are the reasons why some people are still using Firefox? I did a quick search and pretty much all cool extensions for Firefox are also available on Chrome.

Yeah, however "Firefox" isn't an advertising platform that makes me monies yet doesn't think too fondly of me, "Chrome" is.

I'll pass on funneling ALL data to big brother instead of just the vast majority.

clearly you do no web programming whatsoever. The development tools on chrome/iron suck dick and show no signs of really getting any better.

Chrome is dead to me until it gets firebug at the very least

You'll be back. I use chrome to browse and that's it. I won't make the serious switch until the bookmarking has a tag feature.

Bookmarking in chrome is what really bothers me. Otherwise it's a decent browser. Granted I am not sitting here with a stop watch counting how long pages take to load.

It has Firebug (lite). It doesn't have SEO tools though (Unless you use a lot of bookmarklets).

Actually I do lots of programming, and I do it just fine with Chrome. Firebug is overrated.

so you like not being able to add new css styles to existing classes and ids in live view? What's the point of being able to edit shit in real time if I can't add to it. I can code up a landing page without refreshing the browser using firebug

I just switched to firefox. Trying chrome now its 200% faster. I like firefox better but its so bloated comapred to chrome. Think im about to stick with chrome because of the speed.

I edit it the file on the server in my text editor. ctrl-s, f5.

Works great for me. And I get to stay away from Firebloat.

hmm.... you're late buddy. FireBug is available on Chrome. I use this baby on a daily basis.

...

Chrome doesn't have the ability yet to support addons like NoScript (if you browse the web without noscript you are a fucking idiot) and adblock (they ported adblock to chrome but it's a piece of shit).

Also, I've never had any problems with FF slowing down or using more than a small amount of ram - even with the shit loads of addons installed over the years.
