K let me clear some things up for both sides. The media coverage here on the local channel
CP24 - HOME was AMAZING...I was pretty much glued to the tv for hours and that's pretty rare.
This was definitely not hidden and similar footage was shown live throughout the whole summit on the news. They covered this event basically from within and even had their own people get arrested since they were basically in the crowds. One of their directors was arrested and spoke of how shitty the detention center was and his whole experience. Their coverage was very unbiased.
Those that are saying well the protesters shouldn't be on the street I don't exactly agree but we'll get to that later, here's what happened. There was a protest group marching down the street when this happened and they got "kettled" in at that intersection. This in turn caused many bystanders and random people to get caught up in all of this as well. See:

You'll also find there's been a ton of backlash and protests following the G20 as well as a possible class action lawsuit if you feel like digging up the stories. There's definitely people all over this so don't worry it's not getting buried. At least not in the local media.
Anyways I get pretty riled about all of this so I'll try not to ramble, here's my take on the whole thing and what pisses me off.
First of all the whole black bloc thing. Basically, they let a bunch of fucking idiots run around torching police cars and smashing windows of businesses (in the other thread about the protests someone also posted a link to an article where it was speculated some of these guys were cops deliberately causing shit).
These cars were obviously set up as bait. If you have any ounce of intelligence it's pretty easy to see what's going on here in the big picture and I'm glad the media (local anyway) did not buy any of the police bullshit and called them out on everything. It's obvious they let this happen so they could justify the bs they pulled after when they started fucking with peaceful protests (first vid).

So here's the thing:
Let's just say we live in a fairy tale world and what that cop is saying is true in that vid where the cruiser is on fire. JUST FOR 1 SECOND.
You spend $1.3 billion dollars on the whole fuckin thing and you're telling the taxpayers that you had police deployed in other places?? Are you fucking kidding me? At that price tag I expect at least a dozen officers on every block for miles. And then if we assume you're not even letting this shit happen on purpose then you must be fucking incompetent to do your job. Well fuuuuuck, great. I couldn't find it but I also saw the vid of one idiot jumping up and down on a cruiser and a few riot police watching and doing nothing so that lady is not pulling that out of her ass, they showed a live shot when it happened.
Basically they let these fucks run rampant destroying everything and then the following 2 days they justified their actions of arresting every other random person because they were looking for these criminals and trying to prevent the previous day's violence. What a bunch of bullshit.
As for anyone saying oh the protesters are on the street oh this and oh that, fuck you move to a 3rd world country if you think anyone shouldn't have a right to a peaceful protest whether that's Canada or the US. For an event like this I don't give a fuck how many streets protesters block.
The leaders of the city and country knew EXACTLY what to expect, and they brought it on themselves and the city for this shit to happen. So if you want to point fingers that's where they should be pointed.
Hey guys let's have a summit in the biggest city in Canada. OK sounds good. Who the fuck came up with this great idea?? Seriously dumbest bunch of shit I've ever seen. Then the mayor comes on crying for the federal gov't to pay for all the damage. Go kill yourself you idiot good job on showing off your city to the world.
