I can do everything out of the box because my version of windows has all of my apps preloaded.

Slipstreaming.

Can you do that on a mac?

When I install windows I already have all my bookmarks, flock user settings, programs ect.

That about says it all. I can count the number of of times I've reinstalled Mac OS X on no hands, because I've never had to, even when moving from machine to machine. Windows, in all it's various flavors, not so much. So MS's crap crashes and needs reinstalled so much, they've got third party tools to help you ease the pain. Awesome.

Someone else said it earlier in the thread, there comes a time when you just want to get your work done and not have to worry about this setting, or that registry entry was changed by some program, or whatever. I found that, after 25 years on PC of various flavors, that the latest Apple stuff, based on Unix, just gets out of the way and lets you do what you want, which works for me at the moment, ymmv.

That said, I really don't care to argue the virtues of one or the other. You have free choice in the world, use it how you see fit.

Don't come on this board and start calling folks names because they happen to disagree with your OPINION. Which is all you have in your argument you are shoving down our throats, however, maybe it's good that you do, now we all have very well formed opinions about you.

I love how everyone is against debating this so instead of ignoring the thread you come here and say that you don't care.

Irony much?

Oh, and stfu. I don't care what you think of me-who the fuck are you to demand decorum from a stranger?

i can't believe I'm going to waste my 100th post this way . . .sigh. . .boobies to follow.

Who I am is unimportant, who you are is evidenced by joining a board and insulting people for having a different opinion than you do. But if that is what makes you feel better, go for it. I don't expect to see you around here much longer anyway.

Good day.

I figured he'd get the ban hammer for like the first the most double posts on one thread, guess I was wrong.

How did you do this calibration using drivers? I've never seen anyone calibrate a monitor using drivers.

You don't calibrate a monitor based on Pantone colors, calibrating a monitor has nothing to do with Pantone colors. Any calibrated monitor will display most, but not all Pantone colors relatively well. What do you do about colors like Coke red which is almost identical to P485, but not quite, hope for the best or assume they will be right?

I changed the kernel of windows from 64bit to 88bit for more speed, got rid of the standard shell and use flux with a bblean back end instead and have modified drivers so that it renders colours based on pantone calibration as opposed to what windows thinks red should be

The company I used to work for before I went freelance used both a spider for the monitors and custom quadro drivers (or a tool that ran along side the drivers?) for the lab machines. So when I left I kept using them purely out of habit.

I use the Gretag Macbeth eye one, similar thing I think. And I still like my crt.

Don't you guys find it impractical to put so much emphasis into color when 99% of website visitors use shitty monitors anyway?

Not really. It's not that much either especially if you use the Macs built in calibration tool or the Adobe gama for windoze if they still use that. You can get pretty good results using that, but really need a colorimeter if you do much print work other than basic spot colors.

I use my Mac for more than just sites. Although I'm picky and want my colors to be accurate and represent what I have in mind where it really comes into play is when I'm working on photos or graphics that will be printed (professionally, not to a home laser or inkjet). In these cases it is very important.
