I am a BSD fanboy actually, so yes I am different for I call bullshit on both MAC and PC users alike.

The new MBP uses an intel chipset so yes, we can compare it.

  1. The link you posted featured benchmarks which tested general speed using 2d programs and the BETA also tested 2games.
  2. World of warcraft is retarded.
  3. Hi def pr0n is awesome.
  4. I am different because I built my pc and modified my windows to suit my needs, custom menu, style skins, apps ect.
  5. I have yet to discuss any of the pro's/con's of vista since I only discussed the hardware and benchmarks, don't paraphrase me please.
  6. With regards to viruses and malware I have never receieved any so I would not know. [external bsd box which filters all incoming and outgoing connections]
  7. Bubbles are silly.
Oh you buy a windows machine because you like to be different then the 15% of macs on the market?

I could point out that the link I posted was simply testing basic vista functionality and not which computer lets you play world of warcraft, and masturbate to high definition pornography, while over clocking your CPU at the same time, the fastest.

I don't really find it necessary to research an article I read saying that a mac is better than a PC when it comes to running vista. Especially if that article is coming from a PC oriented magazine.

Or I could point out that a mac should never ever beat a PC in ANY test regarding vista.

I could go into the numerous security vulnerabilities released for vista daily, that don't get patched until "Patched Tuesday", because Microsoft is more focused on maintaining a monopoly than a decent operating system... How Mac rarely releases updates at all, because their operating system is inherently more secure and stable.

If I was really board I could go through my digg history back when vista was released and watch everyone complain about how they fucked up the menus, the functionality, and the other precious few features that people actually LIKED in XP.

I like how you call me a mac fan boy... You are no different. You ignore the facts and focus purely on the few pros that vista has to offer.

One thing macs can do out of the box that pcs can't:

Extremely easy to use screen sharing. Take over pc, share presentations, videos, photos, all the while talking about it.

Coverflow in finder. Cool new view in finder that shows live previews of any type of file. Previews of files work in other views as well.

QuickLook is awesome. Press spacebar and the video will play, the PDF will be seen and can be navigated, PPT, DOC, AVI, etc.. All without opening an application.

Built in spaces allow you to manage your desktop and apps more effectively. Its like having 4 screens.

Third party app called parallels allows you to run all your windows apps side by side in the same mac environment.

Time machine is an easy quick, one button, all you need backup utility.

If your a BSD fanboy you'd know that both Mac and Free BSD are unix based and purely off that you'd realize why mac is better.

You can't "modify" windows. Its not open source. Changing the color of your start bar and the colors of your windows doesn't count. Neither does installing 3rd party apps lol. Custom designing your computer doesn't make you different, lots of people do that. The fact that you run windows makes you the same as everyone else. Not that it should matter... I personally care more about what works than what everyone else is using.

If you are only discussing hardware, lets take another look at the link I posted and remember how the Macbook won that argument. Yes there are other tests to try, and everyone has a test that will produce the results they want to prove they point they believe. I'm going off of a test from a PC magazine supporting a pro-mac point.

When i talked about security I was referring to windows, if your not running it you really shouldn't be talking about how great it is.

Give me one thing macs can do which pc's can't.

:)
Actually work?

*edit* You can do pretty much everything with XP than you can do with out-of-the-box Tiger/Leopard, but you have to download this and that and few of those and let's not forget that little program to do that and oh yes, this one more.. now damn, where's the drivers for this thing? oh man I still need this and that and few of those.. But in the end, you can do all the same stuff.. if your Windows & 100+n small 3rd party programs haven't fucked up registry just yet. Call me old-fashioned, but I just like when things work.

I am running windows, behind a bsd box, and you can modify windows, google slipstreaming.

What kind of hacker are you?

:repuke:

I changed the kernel of windows from 64bit to 88bit for more speed, got rid of the standard shell and use flux with a bblean back end instead and have modified drivers so that it renders colours based on pantone calibration as opposed to what windows thinks red should be, the kernal pre-fetches data with a design bias [because I set it to remember programs and cache them from start up based on workstation mode (I can set it to gaming, multimedia, work ect using customized memory allocation and variations on how much of the operating system I keep in memory or on drive mostly 60/40 but depends on what I am working on.]

Jesus, you know nothing.

I can do everything out of the box because my version of windows has all of my apps preloaded.

Slipstreaming.

Can you do that on a mac?

When I install windows I already have all my bookmarks, flock user settings, programs ect.

It is very easy and convenient, but I forgot-mac user, easily confused.

And yes, there have been third party programs for windows doing that for years, and system restore.

Oh, that sounds very easy and convenient.

Btw, can your Windows do Time Machine :D :D

[although to clarify sytem restore is not exactly like time machine, for a better alternative check out acronis true disk]

The point is that macs make it easy for everyone. It's just 1 click and it's done. That is the defining factor of what apple is all about; the user interface, usability, etc..

I like being able to set my own programs to work and operate how I want them to and modify everything about my system from the shell to the registry to the file structure.

Forgive me for having a measure of control over workstation.

But that's the fundamental difference between Windows/Linux and Mac. When I started to use OS X after using Windows for about 15 years I first hated the fact that almost nothing can be customized perfectly for your needs a.k.a there wasn't many options in the program. After two months of use I realized that it was actually a really good and working system because now I just used the program and it worked perfectly. There are many very useful programs for Mac that are only a 5cm x 5cm window where you drop a file, it does it work and that's it.

The whole logic of program design is different. But I remember the time when I loved the fact that I could play with programs and their settings if I wanted. However nowadays I prefer to get the things done, fast, easy and in comfortable way.

I really doubt that there's anything for Windows that's easy to use like Time Machine is. Can you go to your folders, click a button and instantly see how that specific view looked two months ago?

Jeezus...

Please, go away with the OS wars.
I know a lot of mac users who are OK, I know a lot who are arrogant, smug assholes.
Same goes for windows and for Linux.

Use whatever gets the job done for you. It's a computer, people.

::emp::

What you miss is that you put all that work into modding your system and its still not as good as the OSX I take out of the box.

This thread is like one gigantic geek sword fight. Next you'll be fighting over who has the longest lightsaber...
