Anil Dash: Smug Ugly

That has to be the most condescending, retarded and most distasteful dig at Microsoft I have ever seen.

Even though I never intended to purchase a Fisher Price computer I now never will based purely on the negative association.

What are your thoughts on the general doltness of mac users(also known as deluded minions)?

I read all of that boring rant to realise you were referring to the apple BSOD 'feature', not the blog post.

I generally agree though, macs can be great for certain jobs but all the iShit, it's 99% image. Smug definitely describes a lot of Apple fans.

I don't give a shit about PR... I care about what gets the job done. And for a desktop, XP gets the job done for me. I'm a gamer and a jack of all trades, which means I try out a lot of different software. Mac is too limited in its software catalog, especially games.

Ya all image. People are going all apeshit over a new thin metal keyboard on the new Macs. I look at it in a store and it is cool looking. Not sure why that matters but to some people....I try typing on it and it is a laptop type keyboard with an annoying vague feel. It is worse than any keyboard on any PC desktop or laptop I have ever tried typing on. It is slow as heck and reminds me of the IBM PC jr chiclet keyboard if any of you know what that is. Chiclet keyboard - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Fucking lame asses. O ya I hate Microsoft too, so I am not a PC fanboy.

Hoh, that's was one pathetic blog post. When I installed Leopard I happened to notice this "easter egg" and I thought it was funny. It's a FUCKING APPLE! They had huge banners saying "Redmond, start your photocopiers" few years back when Tiger came out. And what happened? Redmond really did start their photocopiers and came up with Vista.

I think it's really funny to watch how some people go apeshit when Apple is bashing Windows & Microsoft. It's just a part of their marketing strategy. They are creating a loyal community around them and have been very successful at that. In case you didn't know, a common enemy is the most bonding thing there could be.

Brilliant.

i use a mac. i like having unix so easily adapted without the difficulty of an install on an x86 box. also, i just got my warranty extended for FREE another two years. Plus, I can boot into Windows if need be (once every couple days) and play games or run accounting software. So yes, I love my Mac, but I don't hate windows. Damn, people get so caught up in this stupid bullshit about who is better.

The guy who wrote that article is a bitch... He argues for a page an a half about nothing.

I own a mac, and frankly before I did I thought all mac users were smug and arrogant... Then I realized there is a difference between being right, and being smug.

I find it a little ironic that the fastest windows vista laptop for the year of 2007 is a mac (coming from a PC magizine):
PC World - In Pictures: The Most Notable Notebooks of 2007

Vista is a horrible operating system. They started from scratch because everyone gave them shit for how horrible XP was. Then, when they started over, they forgot to patch all the viruses that came out for windows 95... Smart.

Its time to wake up people, Macs sucked back in the 90's... Since then they have become far more secure, stable, and usable than windows. They've been increasing substantially in market share each year. Its simply a better product, thats why we are so arrogant about it.

As the guy from 3 PS3's said, "Its like you have one cake, and I have three cakes. Except you have no cakes and I have 3 PS3's... And this cake". Mac takes the cake, no doubt.

The article is flawed since it does not take into consideration flexible benchmarkign software that tests everything, including rendering stats and gaming capabilities.

All it tested was lauch speed, reaction time and 2d compiling-[how fast does it take to load x or apply y to z in photoshop] which is ridiculous, there are faster notebooks out which pc world does not take into consideration such as the dell xps series or the voodoo line of laptops.

WorldBench 5 uses the following applications:
  • ACD Systems ACDSee PowerPack 5.0
  • Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1
  • Adobe Premiere 6.5
  • Ahead Software Nero Express 6.0.0.3
  • Discreet 3ds max 5.1 (DirectX)
  • Discreet 3ds max 5.1 (OpenGL)
  • Microsoft Office XP with SP2
  • Microsoft Windows Media Encoder 9.0
  • Mozilla 1.4
  • Musicmatch Jukebox 7.10
  • Roxio VideoWave Movie Creator 1.5
  • WinZip Computing WinZip 8.1
Do your fucking research instead of blowing steve job's cock you halfwit douchebag.

Eurocom D900C Phantom-X WorldBench 6 Tests - Superior: 97

MacBook Pro's PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score - 88

OMG, can it be? a pc laptop is faster than a MBP?

Thats what I love about you fucking morons, you don't research-the link you showed is only taking into account a selection of laptops. not all of them you fucking dolt.

Thanks for the cake, it was delicious-please bring me some more once you get over that crushing blow to your ego. :)

<edit>
Is there a specific rule to how many fucks I have to insert into my posts? the faq does not clarify that. :/

I will stick to adding fuck in every 1 of every 2 posts unless I recieve clarification from a mod.

The PC "may" be faster, but these tests prove nothing in comparison to each other. IFor one thing the Mac test was using 32bit home version of Vista and the PC test used the 64bit Vista ultimate.

These tests are no better than comparing apples to oranges.

The fastest computer is the one you can get done what you want to get done the quickest. Given similar computers this is going to be more dependant on software you run and what you are more familiar with, pc, mac, linux.

When benchmarking one takes the same operating system with similar stats and runs the same program in exactly the same way to the the exact same action,

example- rendering clouds using the cloud filter in photoshop.

Thats how we can tell if one is faster than the other. the benchmarks between the MBP and the PC was done using the same OS and the same benchmarking software.

Hence PC's are faster, you can make your PC look like a mac etc. to take into account familirity but it does not change the fact that you can get more done faster on a PC.

All macs are the same, I buy windows because I like to think different.

Oh you buy a windows machine because you like to be different then the 15% of macs on the market?

I could point out that the link I posted was simply testing basic vista functionality and not which computer lets you play world of warcraft, and masturbate to high definition pornography, while over clocking your CPU at the same time, the fastest.

I don't really find it necessary to research an article I read saying that a mac is better than a PC when it comes to running vista. Especially if that article is coming from a PC oriented magazine.

Or I could point out that a mac should never ever beat a PC in ANY test regarding vista.

I could go into the numerous security vulnerabilities released for vista daily, that don't get patched until "Patched Tuesday", because Microsoft is more focused on maintaining a monopoly than a decent operating system... How Mac rarely releases updates at all, because their operating system is inherently more secure and stable.

If I was really board I could go through my digg history back when vista was released and watch everyone complain about how they fucked up the menus, the functionality, and the other precious few features that people actually LIKED in XP.

I like how you call me a mac fan boy... You are no different. You ignore the facts and focus purely on the few pros that vista has to offer.

Sorry, I guess I was confused by the line under the mac test report page that said "Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)" and the line on the pc test report page that said "Operating System Windows Vista Ultimate (64 bit)"

My bad.
