Fuck 1&1 Web Hosting: They are the Worst Company I have ever done business with

I was with 1and1 years and years ago. They were my first "webhost." (I can't believe I paid them an extra £3 a month to be able to use cron!)

I had similar problems and ending hosting (moving to Bluehost) in about 2001/2 and slowly moved out all my domains by about 2006/7. I was still receiving invoices last year for domains transferred out more than 5 years ago. I fucking hate them.

Hostgators billing policy is probably 100x better. The thing that sucks about them is your managed server and all of their infrastructure could be owned for 5 years before anyone over there caught it Their techs are a bunch of useless fuck ups. Their CIO is about as good as tits on a boar hog as well.
 
Some of this same shit happened to me. Fuck 1&1.
And they don't have the simple wordpress install which just pisses me off, they try to push their own bullshit website creator.

What do you say we rank this thread for 1&1 reviews??
 
Yikes, I just registered a few domains with them because I couldn't find them cheaper elsewhere.

I've got about 20 collections letters from them on domains I canceled with 1&1 years ago. I suppose I should heed some of the advice here and wipe it off my slate, I've just been ignoring them.

Hostgator are gods in comparison, not saints. Zero problems with them, and there support help asap. With Godaddy there so many errors on their end and support takes hours/days to get a hold of. Then if it's a serious problem they just keep passing you along to the next person like a $3 dollar whore.

Hostgator very high price and i dont see good reviews about hostgator , is not a secure hosting :( This is my opinion , This two sites are the best 2 company in the world pay one a year :

I have two HG dedicated boxes and they're pretty damn solid. Support is typically really good other than getting someone that has no idea what they're doing from time to time. Most of the support techs are right on time.

A letter from your lawyer to both 1&1 and CCing their collections agency stipulating that you'll be going after damages for breach of contract, wire fraud, etc yada yada will probably make it all go away. Since they made an error in opting you into hosting without your consent and tried to charge your card I'm pretty sure that falls under a couple different potential civil infractions. Your lawyer can make it solid enough for them decide to not fuck with you.

Sorry to hear about your run-in, bro. The second I read that it went to collections I knew though that this would be the outcome. 90% or more of collections agencies that operate in the US don't give a shit if you settle the source debt or not; they've bought a debt and it costs them little to keep trying to collect forever.

SO, the only thing that I'd suggest at this point is a lawyer. Give them a REASON to want to take the debt off your record at all 3 ratings agencies.

I've been a HG customer since 2005 and I can honestly say that you're more right than wrong here... But don't overlook how bad HG shared usage policies are. (That goes for VPS too.)

Their billing department actually kicks ass and is happy to refund money to you when the other departments screw up.

People with Dedicated service on HG hardly ever complain about anything with HG.

Hostgator is a bunch of fucking morons. I'd say something publicly, but if they read this thread I don't want to get someone sued. If you really want to know why the suck ass you can IM me.
