Follow me as I build my first SEO site

Jesus murphy, shit I learned today:

1. Fuck Wordpress blogs - went over 50 of em and 0 were dofollow

Though I found success with blogengine blogs, decent amount of auto approve high pr blogs :) If anyone wants to share with me their custom footprint for finding lots of dofollow blogs, feel free to lol

Anyways, heres whats up.

Im going for my original keyword of 480 searches per month, plug another with 1300, plus a third with 720. So a total monthly search volume of 2,500. I was originally going to go for another keyword that pertains to my original keyword, but the offer I was planning to promote consistently gets capped/uncapped. So Im not going to bother for know, and I'm not going to worry about being unable to monetize the 480 keyword since its not bringing in traffic yet.

Hope this makes sense =/

Anyways, heres my backlink strategy so far

1. 100 social bookmark for each page

2. Blog commenting on high PR dofollow non gaypress blogs, 10-15 comments per day per page so 20-30 comments per day total since I have two pages Im trying to rank for.

3. Later Web 2.0 Buffer Sites (Link wheels)

But yah today what I did:

1. Blasted out a total of 320 wordpress (before I knew that almost all wordpress blogs are nofollow) links to 5 web 2.0 sites from a link hut I had.

2. Some blog commenting on my 2 pages.

Here are my rankings!

Keywords -- Rank -- Monthly Search Volume
KW1 -- 10 ------------ 480
KW2 -- Not Indexed --- 1300
Kw3 -- Not Indexed -- 720

Forgot to ask, whats your guys take on pinging comments? Personally, I'm not pinging them, and just hoping that they'll be found themselves, but I'd be interested in hearing about what you guys personally do?

if you're only posting 10-30 comments a day, you can ping them if you'd like. Generally I don't ping when I start reaching hundreds of links a day, but at that volume, you're fine.

Alright, I'll start tomorrow, just finished a big commenting sesh lol must've done 30+ comments alone for my page.

Blog engine is decent for comments, only found 2 autoapprove blogs (PR3 both) both most other blog owners approve all comments, like viagra shit, they dont give a fuck. Only problem is most blogs have insane OBL like some 500+.

Not much to say, did some blog commenting, got my new page indexed.

Keywords -- Rank -- Monthly Search Volume
KW1 -- 10 ------------ 480
KW2 -- Indexed --- 1300
Kw3 -- Indexed -- 720

Ok, haven't been doing too much (piss all tbh) Facebook has been taking up my time. Anyways, showing some improvement though! Got some social bookmarking!
Keywords -- Rank -- Monthly Search Volume
KW1 -- 9 ------------ 480
KW2 -- 9 --- 1300
Kw3 -- 11 -- 720

As you can see, some improvment in the SERPs. Also, I'm ranked slightly better in yahoo (3rd, and 5th). This has brought me 3 organic visitors (omfg). And 1 CTR to the advertisers page so 33% CTR.

Today after Im done with Facebook (minor success so far :). I'm going to make custom footprints for scrapebox to find low OBL blogs. Because the only default blog CMS on scrapebox that actually is dofollow and often autoapprove are blogengine blogs and they are spammed insanely like 500+ OBL in some cases lawls.

Thanks for the great tidbits in this post, lots of stuff for a newbie like myself to soak in. Keep us updated please!

stick2Herbs, what are you doing, revenue wise? (forgive me if it's somewhere in this thread, I haven't read the whole thing.)

Do you just have some CPC banners (adsense) or what? I might be able to give you some pointer, plus I'm just interested.

-- What are revenues looking like (how much money are you making)?

I got nothing to add helpful to this thread other then that your getting hella good advice and keep grinding.

Currently, I am promoting a leadgen offer, thats the only form of monetization on my site. And since I have yet to have any real traffic, my revenue is a $0 :P

ALWAYS do the math. It's good to have a feel for "potential" earnings from your site.. let's assume a decent CTR on adsense with the lowest possible CPM

keyword = 3000 /mo estimated searches (Goog)
Position #1 for "keyword": 2500 visitors/mo * 1% click-thru w/ @ $1.00 CPM = $25
Position #5 for "keyword": 800 visitors/mo * 1% click-thru w/ @ $1.00 CPM= $8

You might do way better than $1.00 CPM on Google and you might do worse.. each niche is different.

That kind of traffic potential will yield you $1-5 per day. Pretty shitty.

Listen to this word for word:

I thought I'd just leave this here:

-3 word keyword domain URL. No hyphens.
-30K monthly searches (I'd suggest 30k+, don't limit yourself)
-Wordpress +all in one seo pack, google sitemaps, seo friendly permalink structures and 1 keyword dense article and a generick theme.

-1 bookmarking package from wickedfire members lalit_burma, 1 package from Red_Virus

This *WILL* get you ranked quickly.

In less than 3 weeks I'm in position 7 for the keyword. All white hat.

Don't overthink it : )

Going to add to this journal. It was the above quote with dchuk's saying to do the above 10 times that got me started on some niche sites. Since mid May - more or less using the above advice made $120 for last two weeks of May, $184 in June, and am at $360+ for July. Also sold 2 of the sites one for $200 and the other for $700+ . All adsense. I did use one site with hyphenated url - still working out though. I know it's not A LOT of money - but for starters it was more than I expected.

What I am saying is what many others through this thread have said - do the above. Rinse and Repeat.

Doesn't that philip marlow quote describe a one page MFA site?
I thought google was slaughtering those at the moment, as soon as you earn the first 100$?

Thanks for clarifying.

Hi guys,
I would like to ask just how could I spin the shit outta an article? Submiting to 50million plus article directories?
Easy

Hey guys, I know I haven't updated my journal in 2 weeks. I recently started out advertising with facebook. I know in the first few posts of my thread I was also trying facebook. But that was mainly because I had an extra $13 in my paypal and wanted to do it for lawls. This time I set up and account, installed prosper, made LPs etc. Basically I approached it seriously, I tracked everything, split tested etc. Anyways, by day 2 I was profitable. Originally I thought I'd be able to continue SEO along side paid traffic. I originally thought paid traffic was set and forget, unfortunately thats not the case, you have to constantly tweak campaigns, create new ones etc. Especially with facebook as banner blindness sets in quickly.

This goes against my original plan of find something and stick with it, but shit happens I guess. I really like the fact that with paid traffic I can essentially instantly see results (or within a very shot time span). Also, seeing a few conversions, or having a profitable campaigns motivates you to go make more campaigns. The only problem is, I've been f5ing my stats alot haha. With this said, the other problem I see is cashflow. As I don't have a very big bankroll (low 3 figures ftw), I've resorted to using coupon accounts (thats low). But I'm working with a network offering weekly payments and another network that has "flexible" payment options, so we'll see. It might seem like I'm ragging on SEO, but SEO is can definitely be a viable income stream - plus its definitely more long term.

Anyways, if you haven't already figured out, this will probably be my last post on this thread as I'll be ceasing work and instead turning my effort towards facebook, and eventually other forms of paid traffic.

I want to thank everyone who supported me and hope this helped a few newbies. I especially want to thank dchuk for all the help he gave me.

But yah, won't be starting any "facebook journal" or anything, theres already alot of journals in the newbie section I wont clog it up more :P plus, things can chance quickly - as shown here. I'll probably continue with facebook for 2-3 months build up a decent bankroll and then move onto Search PPC, we'll see.

Yep.

I have been reading this journal a while ago and noticed a lot of improvement and learnings made. I congratulate you for that herbs.

One advice I have to give you is to focus on one strategy rather than move from one to another. Perseverance will pay you big time soon.

Any chance one of the experienced dudes could comment on this? Wondering whether MFA sites get axed by google or not?

Good luck herbs. Am in a similar position and always good to see others progressing too. Cheers.

Thought this may be another waste of my time journal, glad I was wrong. Thanks to Herbs for posting your steps and especially mistakes you've made.

Also thanks to all those who contributed to this thread, us newbies really appreciate it.
