This whole experience has made me realize how amateurish FB is. The ad system is clumsy, the approvals are inconsistent, the monitoring is lame. But they must be doing something right in other parts of the site for it to have gone over so well.
If history has taught us anything it's that the way to make lots of money is to steal other peoples ideas ala Facebook and Microsoft and build it half-assed.
As a test yesterday I submitted the same ad 4 times - same headline, text and same image except I used 4 different background colors behind the main product image. 2 got approved. 2 got denied. I guess they like orange and yellow.
