erect the impaler ... why excessive bumping is bad for your sales

Why not get a review team together? Every new post would need a couple of good reviews from trusted members, otherwise it can either a) be on another level where nobody would buy shit (as suggested earlier) b) shown only to trusted members/mods in awaiting review area. This way free review copies are not going to be given to noobs who will bump anything for a free one...

They should be publicly posted right in the sales thread since:

1) Review copies are a way to gauge the value of the provider -- not a free article for one of your websites.

2) Rather than having to read a bunch of bullshit itrader and "this writer was fast and delivered higher quality than expected" posts...u kan reed what thay do for urself.

I'm still rather new around here but I'll try to help.

I like both ideas for maintenance, minimum requirements and a second forum. I think they'd work better together than if one is implemented and not the other.

On minimum requirements - Guerilla makes a good point that a second forum will increase spam in the general BST. If that's a probable outcome I think minimum post counts and a negligible fee are good ideas for the general BST, although fees would require more work for mods. A measly dollar won't stop anyone honest from offering their services even if they are strapped for cash.

On a second forum - What if all threads start in the general BST as a proving ground for quality and are promoted when the time is right? There are at least a couple dozen threads in there that are obvious candidates.

A couple other possible benchmarks for entry besides what's been mentioned:

• favorable reviews from at least x members with posts > y and/or join date before z
• at least x total favorable reviews throughout the thread

A rule could be added to the general forum not to ask for your offer to be promoted or you set your promotion back x amount every time you do/get a temp ban for asking. Less mod nagging with that in place.

Last thought: If there is a review team, I think it would work better if it had a lot of members, like eight or more, and it revolved weekly or monthly so no one was stuck on long-term review duty. Guerilla mentioned this too, good honest reviews take time and time is money.

I've learned enough recently to start outsourcing some of my work and I want to hire WF members to do it but BST is really difficult to sift through at the moment.

PS Just scanned the threads in there. Nordie and grindstone are absolutely right: a couple members are cleaning up on free reviews, like to the tune of high $xxx in total services rendered, maybe more, and sometimes don't even bother posting a review worth reading. :action-smiley-052:

Ok.... looks like shit has already slowed down in there, think the indo team might be trying to regroup or have seen the banns come swinging and they are dazed and confused...

I agree with putting review work out in the open.

I thought about going into the Content section and doing this, but I'd rather see what others thought about it before I did. I suspect that a number of the sales threads are people reselling what they got for free or for very little $$.

So the good providers get burnt out working for pennies and doing free review copies and the guys in the middle have the appearance of providing quality. Once their 'inventory' runs out and they have to do it on their own, customers get burned.

Putting it out in the open would increase the quality in the BST by cutting out some of that bullshit and also give prospective service providers an idea of what constitutes quality work around here.

Barman needs to step up his game and have "Ban 1 Member A Week" @ BST Links & SEO

Hell - If Jon made me mod, I would do the favor.

Erect is kicking ass and taking names tonight. All the WF Live threads are locks lol.

I do agree - the dumbasses need to go.

While I don't think we should be banning people for one bad review, I do think that the BST section should be comprised of people with over 100 posts and a positive rep.

Now, this does mean that you'll have people posting spammy comments for their post count - but we do a pretty good job catching those types anyway and harassing them until they leave.

I also think that the BST should be comprised of people who speak proper English - not that gay scrapped together crap you see people like sumitdhawan posting. I've seen a lot of misunderstandings because they word their threads and replies badly.

While that would be nice, there are a lot of members here who aren't native English speakers. Should we keep people out even if they offer good services just because they're not masters of the English language? I know a lot of people that can barely type readable English but they provide pretty good services and are nice people overall.

plusmin 3 day ban for being a review whore .. your days are numbered if you keep it up.

DATDERcontent took a 10 day ban for 5 straight bumps

sellerbuyer got his closed with 6 posts to his name

mzonas closed .. decent itrader & 80+ posts & orange rep, I showed mercy

blogz gets a 2 week ban ... have you no chivalry???

Special thx to markus ... I knocked out another 5 or so in a PM he sent.

That's got to be 20 or so I've axed today ... This weekend should be fun.

I really do appreciate the help. SBT is way too big for one person to clean up, or even 3-4 people ... you guys line them up, and I'll happily bitch slap them.

If you can't communicate with someone, then you can't do business with them. If they can barely type readable English, then there will be a ton of miscommunication. This is bad for the client because they wasted time and/or money. It's bad for the seller because they will have a very high rate of bad reviews, even if they might be a great service provider.

Now, as for people who don't have English as their native language - I know a ton of people who can write legibly here, but just don't want too. But, like the example of the person I provided - they just don't want to.

If the seller has bad English skills, get someone to proofread at least the first post where they are listing their services.

He should be banned for sure. I like this thread. Thank you Zingo for starting it. I will contribute to this thread with their thread links whenever I see any douche bag trying to create WF's BTS their private Garbage bin. :repuke: Let me start if I can find any...
