If you have anything that matters going to a Hotmail account, then it's your own fault. I understand wanting to keep a 10 year old account live, but if losing it poses a security risk or causes a problem for you it's your own fault. You've been on the internet long enough to know better than to be using Hotmail as a central part of your internet life.
^^ Yep some good funny shit to be sure. Like they'll get a team right on your free email account. lol.Lol @ whoever said "try contacting hotmail." Good luck with that. Give a ring to Google while you're at it.

Who said I use it for business? I use it for personal, and fuck all you douchebags that keep saying 'who uses hotmail', it's just as safe as any other email client but obviously not 'as cool' among you assholes. If you have security concerns, there's no reason to ditch hotmail because it's not like anything else is more secure.
I came in here asking for input on how this could have happened. Instead I got a bunch of 'it's your own fault' and 'you should have known better'. Well fuck me, if that's your idea of constructive advice then I wouldn't have bothered.
I have experience with software keyloggers myself, a keylogger is the last thing that this would be. They are piss easy to detect.
I never said it wasn't my fault. It's just dumb how people keep saying that as if it's gonna solve anything. I've got over a dozen different emails, most are on my own domains. But I didn't expect this to happen since I'm not exactly a computer noob. It's nothing to do with being "secure", or "cool". It just so happens that if you own your own shit, you can't be locked out... You own and maintain the backend. With Hotmail et al, you own fuck all and you're at the mercy of someone else. Someone who, in this instance, like almost any provider of free email, couldn't really give 2 shits about you getting locked out.
Now you may like to throw insults around about how we're being derogatory and righteous, but it's Teh Internetz 101. If you care about your email you make sure it's under your control and not someone else's. Safe guards are required and to leave such tiny, trivial matters in the hands of a company that provides free email is the problem.
I wish it was.
If you opened an account years ago chances are you won't think anything of someone chatting to you showing an interest in your awesome pet dog, which as you've already pointed out and much to their delight, is called 'Max'.
I KNEW some fucking cunt was gonna chime in with the bullshit 'who still uses hotmail' crap. Dickhead, I have different emails but this was my first one. I've had this account for 10 years and still have use for it. If you don't have anything useful to say kindly gtfo.
Lol @ whoever said "try contacting hotmail." Good luck with that. Give a ring to Google while you're at it.
Just so everyone knows msn does in fact have a support site to deal with these problems, and they responded to my email and the evidence I gave to prove I was the real owner and they gave me my account back within a few days.^^ Yep some good funny shit to be sure. Like they'll get a team right on your free email account. lol.
