Email hacked

Just so everyone knows msn does in fact have a support site to deal with these problems, and they responded to my email and the evidence I gave to prove I was the real owner and they gave me my account back within a few days.

Thanks for the update. Nobody gives a shit still.

Agreed. Yahoo mail FTW. Enough of this "you use and older established form of webmail than gmail so you're a n00b" bullshit. At least yahoo isn't to cool to get rid of the option of HAVING FOLDERS. I mean, seriously... how fucking presumptuous is google to figure, "well, we do search so people can just search through their mail." Yeah, they have the right, but who cares?

So take your 1,500 odd posts and be an ass elsewhere (or not at all?), Magic_Hat. I'm glad you can feel so goddamn superior.

Actually, I do feel superior with my superior email technology.

Yesterday I couldn't get into my hotmail account. I knew the password was right but I couldn't get in. I answered the secret question and reset my password and logged in. Today the same thing happened. Only now the reset password feature only has a 'send to email' option, and the email on display is not mine. The question is, how did this happen?

I've done a full virus scan, anti rootkit scan, malware scan - everything appears clean. It's not a keylogger. My password wasn't easy to guess, it was a random combination of letters and numbers, even so, apparently it wasn't 'strong'. But I don't see how that could affect it, as you can't brute force hotmail accounts since they brought in captchas.

Anyone have any ideas how they got in?

I know what you mean, man. I run an optin list for opportunity seekers and have been seeing quite a bit of url emails pimping the same url of a .php page They aren't all hotmail though, quite a number of gmail and yahoo email adds there as well.
