Tell Randall L. Stephenson I said hello

Can I ask 1 question, how are you going to sell an ad on your website for $500? Surely people would not pay $500 for an advertisement?

You'd be surprised what local businesses pay, especially UK small businesses. You can charge the same amount in pounds and still get a nice volume of customers.

That law does say you cannot put copyrights on facts. (I believe). Talk to a lawyer first.

But why scrap, when you can pay someone $200 to post 600 local listings in specific.

3 listings per dollar. Add some extra details and each listing will be unique.

A quick tip for getting your prospects from the offline world...and it's friggin' FREE ...

Get a library card from you local area...

Use it from home to access their databases (ask the library info-slave to tell you how)...

Most libraries subscribe to Reference USA, where you can do searches and get ALL the data you need to target the specific niche businesses you need to start placing listings....

Paid listings right out of the gate. IF you have no traffic yet...use SEO or Adwords to drive traffic at first ... keeping in mind that you are charging $$$ for listings ... so you can offset your costs.

After you have broken your cherry...and are getting traffic etc...you can use more advanced methods to gain clients and forget you read this post. :)

Read the thread yourself no one will PM you.

OK....

I just found this thread and ironically I recently helped a local newspaper set up an online business directory.

How we did it is that all FREE business listings will start on page 2 of their category so the entire 1st page is reserved for paid advertisers. They are broken up into Premier (1), Featured (3), and Enhanced(5) for a total of 9 potential paid advertisers. 1,250 categories @ $500 per page = $625k per month potential revenue.

Here's my problem:

The newspaper was very behind the times and they don't get a lot of traffic to their website. Now that their sales force is out talking to local businesses the 1st question being asked is "How much traffic is your site getting?"

Does anyone have any online ideas how to boost traffic relatively quick and give the salesforce a stronger story when out in the field?

We are discussing using offline media like radio, tv, etc. but could really use some feedback for online methods.

Also, any ideas on how to move businesses from the free listing to a paid listing without as someone suggested "going door to door with a briefcase"

Oh yeah, we also SEO'd each category so eventually all 1,250 pages will be able to be found on Google, MSN, and Yahoo in the organic search.

Any positive feedback would be great!!

good to hear feedback on what business are asking.

like earlier posts in this thread, if you need to get some traffic going to show businesses, set up an adwords account and buy a bunch of cheap keywords for each category
then show your stats to your potential clients. they won't know that the traffic was paid for, just that it came from google and for what keywords.

There is a no "Easy Way to Make 100k/Year." These posts usually end up involving schemes, scams, and mlms, all of which only benefit the person at the top of them. To make 100k a year it takes hard work, devotion, flexibility, and innovation as well as properly running your business. If you search easy money in google you get 29,500,000 results.

It's easy and fun to hop into a thread, not bother to read it, then be a douche, isn't it?

The title used the word easy, not lazy.

Digging ditches is an easy way to make $8 an hour, but it sure isn't lazy. You don't have to learn much to use a shovel. For people who are already learning basic web design and SEO for use in their AM endeavors, this is an easy, but definitely not lazy, way to make $100k per year.

Does that illustrate the subtle difference between easy and lazy for you? I don't even know how you managed to associate what this thread discusses with MLM. The OP isn't selling a damned thing, and gave all the necessary details to follow his plan in their entirety. No strings attached. No purchase necessary.

So why not be a prick elsewhere? Or, y'know... actually read a thread before replying...

WWAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! OMFG pure hilarity

This is an interesting method and one I haven't thought of before. Since I'm new to this forum (but not internet marketing), I'm sure I will learn many more methods in the near future from wickedfire. Thanks for the share.

If only things were that simple, nobody ever made a fortune without hard work.......well, as far as i know, if anyone knows any better, please let me know, PLEEEEEEASE:)
