DigitalOcean

On a well managed VPS host there shouldn't be much that anyone could do on their VPS to affect yours.

I had a test site on DO since nearly the beginning of this thread and been tracking it with a 3rd party service. 0 downtime in my case. That said crap service and support is crap.

Honestly if you can't tolerate downtime a budget, unmanaged VPS provider is not the right place for you. Either invest the time/energy/braincells in a failover system or pay for it.

Overall, DO is one of the best hosts out there. But there are some drawbacks, for instance - undocumented "droplet limits". If you click "Add Droplet", it'll say "You've reached your droplet limit, please contact support". They'll generally raise it after some basic security verification but it's a nasty surprise since you don't find out about it until you need to provision a new Droplet. Especially if you're in the middle of a traffic spike.

What does this mean?

if your competitor sees that you are hosted on DO, they can just DDoS and DO doesn't give a fuck they will nullroute you and even terminate your droplet in some cases to protect their network

say goodbye to your sales or ad revenue for the day(s) your site is down

if you are running websites that are generating decent $, don't be a peasant and use DO just because it is cheap - find something that will provide solid uptime and can't be interrupted by any 14 year old kid with a booter

I can't believe this thread is still gathering retards posting about 5$ a month hosting. Just pay Liquid Web and stop, already.

Could someone make us a meme with like one of those ten-armed hindu goddesses doing a multi-face palm? I couldn't find one, and I didn't have time to try myself.

kthxbye
