CNN, Dr. Sanjay Gupta admits to being wrong about weed.

Meanwhile in WA I just did my weekly friday trip to the dispensary, browsed numerous varieties, bought some buds, kief, and hash.

Meanwhile I work full time as a programmer and smoke a lot of herb. I don't drink much though. To each his own.

I took this pic back in 2009, when dispensaries weren't really around.

Even had some good ol' fundamentalist christians show up to protest:

Because their god created this natural plant matter just to temp you into sinning, fucking lololol

Nah bro, there's no pro-weed government conspiracy here. It's just plain old demographic trends, and it's been a very long time coming.

The baby boomer generation and previous generations, which had a majority opposing weed are dieing off. The younger generations after them have a majority in favor of legalizing. Even some of the old baby boomers have started to be won over by the medical marijuana movement because they're getting to that age where they are having lots of medical problems and can benefit from it.

Politicians and the media usually only pay attention to trends. They didn't care when weed was a small counter-culture thing. But now you have states where a majority of the population have already voted to legalize. That trend is something that is only going to grow over time, especially as more of the old folks die off and are replaced by younger voters who want to legalize.

so the kill-off of internet poker was the result of younger voters wanting to criminalize internet activity? or "politicians and the media usually only paying attention to trends"?

that's 3 paragraphs of blah blah blah you just kinda came up with on the spot.

Don't be a tard... you should know well enough that demographics don't cause everything. The trends I'm talking about just drive our economy and impact our political system in some ways.

The 2008 crash was caused by the baby boomer generation passing peak spending age. There will be another crash in real estate and stocks around 2022-2024. That's when the echo-boom after the baby boomer generation hits the same age as the baby boomers did in 2008.

Hmm... BeerNUts & Dreemache

then you talk about how your previous explanations don't apply to everything.

then you try to tell us what caused stuff you didn't talk about in your previous explanation. then you talked about 2022, LOL. and then, the echo-boom.

your advice is noted. my advice to you is to shut the fuck up. you sound like a dumbass.

Thank god! Now that Gupta and CNN say it's OK to smoke weed I can finally smoke without feeling guilty.

When 90%+ of the population is for it maybe then it will be decriminalized and maybe 20 years after that possible legalization. Yeah I'm super pessimistic about this because there are just too many interests that would want it to remain illegal but hopefully this will help push medical marijuana to the people who need it.

Somebody is paying GUPTA lot of money to do this special report, it is raising lots of hairy eye brows. I don't trust him as much as I don't trust a weatherwoman who wears tight top showing her big cleavage and tight pants telling me how the weather will be like.

Are you really this dense or are you just trying to troll this old stoner?

I'll assume you're stupid. You see this chart here. Now this is an awesome motherfucking chart.

You see that bulge around retirement age heading for the imminent death funnel? Yeah, that's the baby boomers, and those people along with the older generations used to hold a majority of the votes. If you look at historical polling data, most of those old folks have been consistently negative on weed for most of their lives. Now that they are dieing off, things are starting to change.

Maybe somebody sober can explain demographics to you better.

Uhm, so what you mean to say is no matter what it is, don't over do it? Because that applies to vitamins, exercise, milk, water, sun light, and so on.

A perfect balance in everything you do, eat and drink bodes well for a healthy life you deserve.

Weed is not vitamins, exercise, milk, water, sun light, and so on.

The maxim holds true for pretty much everything you can name. But the effects of the overuse of each substance are different and not related.

who cares what others do. I don't smoke weed. But people smoking it doesn't hurt me. So the F would I care?

Okay. Let's put it this way.

People in Greece generally prefer to booze and have a easy life, devoid of work. This common apathy for work is believed to have led the country to bankruptcy.

That, however, doesn't mean that all the people in Greece are lazy pussies.

And those that worked hard for whatever-they-got-paid did not contribute to the financial turmoil.

Now the question is, why the fuck aren't they immune from the effects of the economic turmoil brought on by other people?

Did you get the drift?

Assuming that explanation (too many drunkards caused the debt crisis!) was even true, what's your solution? If it's to outlaw alcohol, good luck with that one! See the US prohibition in the 30's.

Portugal decriminalized drugs years ago. Guess what happened? Addiction rates came down.

So your bullshit argument, "marijuana is OK for medical use" but not for recreational use is completely ill-founded and reeks of bully mentality. Stop telling peaceful people what they can and cannot do.

I'm no one to tell people what they should and shouldn't do. My personal suggestion is we should use it 'responsibly'.

In fact, I'm not against recreational use of marijuana, as long as we are 'in control' of ourselves and our mental wellness. Nothing can beat weed as a 'stress-buster'.

Weed nearly impaired one of my friends life, as she, knowingly or unknowingly, allowed it to take control of her life, her dreams, and so on.

14 hours a day of weed smoking for a year, to 6 months in rehab, I cannot bring myself to describe the gruesomeness of her journey back to a normal life. I hope no one has to travel down that path.

She had to go to 6 months of rehab for smoking pot for a year? She sounds like a moron since that happens to like.. noone.

I hope she doesn't die walking into traffic in the next 10 years.

The story you're describing happens more frequently with alcoholics. Weed is less addicting (as Mr. Gupta pointed out in the video from the OP). It should go without saying, it's likely a good idea to not over-indulge with anything, weed being no exception. Now if someone makes those types of decisions, it's their life, not mine, as long as they're doing whatever it is they're doing in a peaceful manner.

She had to go to 6 months of rehab for smoking pot for a year?

This happened within days after her decision to quit smoking weed altogether. The result was psychiatric disorder, owing allegiance to hallucination of a kind, which the doctor believed was caused by the absence of weed in her system, all of a sudden.

To put it in milder terms, her nerves were so used to having weed that the sudden absence of it caused them to send out conflicting signals, which lead to hallucination, that resulted in psychiatric disorder, bordering on insanity.
