Paypal Holding Money

Complex Litigation Group LLC has been appointed interim lead class counsel in a putative class action against PayPal for PayPal holding seller's money up to 180 days (sometimes even longer). PayPal often does not provide a basis for why it is holding the funds and will also tell the seller to get a subpoena to find out why their money is frozen. If you have had money held by PayPal, please contact us for information about the case.

they froze 3 of my accounts, one of which i posted and made a thread here. Everytime, I got my money back. I threatened that they were NOT a bank, but instead a merchant. Banks "hold money", which they are not. Anyhow, I always got my money back despite this 180 day hold. Dont take shit from these guys, glad to see the lawsuit.

lol big deal After the attorney's take 70% of the pool and then they divide that over a billion gaypall users how much you going to get? The guys that have had this happen will still get fucked. The only thing you could hope for is a change in the gaypals policy. Fuck Paypall

I'm surprised this racket has lasted this long.

I've had paypal freeze an account holding $xx,xxx. Not a single customer complaint and even when clients called and asked why they were making it difficult they basically said it was for the their (the customer's) protection.

Either you are a bank or you aren't you can't have it both ways.
I hit refund on everything not delivered and took payment via wire/AlertPay. Magically once the amount the could hold and gain interest on for 180 days was reduced they suddenly had zero problems with my account.

My secret hope is that Facebook acquires WePay and Stripe and rolls out an airtight product that crushes Paypal into oblivion both on the merchant side and the developer side.

There are so many other options out there. I just dont understand why any business owner would risk their revenues being stolen by the processor. After I stopped accepting paypal payments my ecom sites revenues have actually gone up. And my stress levels way down. It should be noted I wouldn't say the same thing if I were selling regularly on FeeBay

I think in certain segments/niches its hard to avoid. For example 95% of my brands target audience has Paypal accounts linked to bank accounts/debit cards. A couple have credit cards and most of those who do have it linked to paypal and are iffy about putting their card directly into a site if PayPal isn't present.

In short while merchants hate it consumer sheeple trust it.

We need a proper alternative payment processors keep half assing it:

Payza - Customers can hold a balance however they have problems accepting credit cards and randomly lose the ability to take any credit card payments (unacceptable).

WePay - Can make CC payments effortlessly but consumers cant hold a balance (as far as I remember).

Stripe - Absolute fucking joy to develop for. Great rates. Consumers cant open an account or hold a balance they just process like your gateway + merchant account.

Google Checkout - No balance. Google has zero customer support.

Not sure if its a patent issue but a major player needs to launch an exact clone of Paypal with common sense and the digital age taken into account.

These greedy fuckers deserve the worst medieval torture devices; just imagine how much they earned by playing these fucking games with us

Just started working with Stripe recently and you're right, it's fantastic. Holding off on calling it the Perfecrt Service till I deal with a chargeback

This is what I love about GoogleWallet - No support, just fucking do it yourself, it's how most shit should be. If one can't figure [service name] out, one shouldn't be using it lol. And they email you back and forth about chargebacks - that is fantastic.

From my end Google wallet is the tits. For my niche though.... Well i had a quasi competitor try it out. He removed paypal completely and did only Google Checkout.

My mole over at his outfit showed me the losses (fraud/chargeback) he sustained. They were horrendous. In 2 weeks he was -$xx,xxx from CB snowball.

Its probably just my niche But if you take certain orders and get fucked you owe the full quote. $4,000 order > Pay supplier $2000 > Hit with CB > You owe $4,000.

Im not sure what it was but from looking at his data the quality of customer was poor hence the CB rate skyrocketed. That and if you have CB problems GC alerts other customers of the "problem" this can lead to a CB snowball and good customers suddenly turn dishonest.

People when given the opportunity to get something for free will fuck you mercilessly.

Seriously? That blows ass, though it would explain the creeping chargeback increase.

I definitely took a hit in customers when I dropped PayPal, but all in all it was worth it. I guess.

The snowball happens on Paypal to occasionally. However since I got hit about 4 years ago I've switched how i screen customers if its over $XXX.XX they better have someone vouching provide photo ID or they can Western Union/Wire/EMT me.
