Tried searching around for this but couldn't find much after some time.

Just bought a dropped domain that had expired that has a pr of 5.

What is the best way to utilize the link juice and pr authority?

1. 301 entire domain to one of my own. (bought domain is not in related niche.)?

2. Throw wordpress up with some content and then just create pages with links to my different projects?

3. Try to copy what used to be there by accessing google's cache(or whatever it is called) and then make sure the site looks to google exactly like it did before it dropped and then just add content and links from there?

And on a side note are any of you effectively using this strategy for seo purposes where you just buy cheap dropped high pr domains and using one of the above proposed techniques to send link juice towards your money sites?

This. From there you can recreate much of the previous incarnation of the site. Then add some unique content and some backlinks from relevant sites. Sit back, pound your pud, and wait to see what G does next.

I recently picked up a dropped domain and I used the wayback machine to recreate the site. The domain was previously owned by a large payday loan company with physical locations across the United States.

Needless to say, I just got a warning to take down the logo and the content. You might not be so lucky.

Be careful of the information you take off the wayback machine even if it's just a logo or content.

If you didn't create it, it's not yours.

So it looks like the only thing on the homepage was a stat counter on the bottom and big image right on the homepage. That and I can't access any internal pages.

Any ideas?

I am screwed on this one?

What usually happens with respect to PR? I would assume it gets stripped when it changes hands and then re-instated if all the link metrics look the same after so long?

I think you should also add some articles related to the materials that was previously on the website. Try to add at least 3 related articles per week if you can.

That's fine take it down...just recreate the pages with new content

Does buying high PR dropped domains actually work to get an instant authority site? I mean, if you was to clone the original site.

I've seen a lot of people with high PR domains full of articles and I've always wondered how they got a high PR when much of their content is crap and registrations were pretty new (7/8 months).

Install wordpress, recreate pages from wayback, sell 10x blogroll for $45/annum and 250 word posts with backlink for $30

Been doing something similar. But the caveat is to make sure that the domain has cached pages in G or Wayback before you go ahead and buy. If there are no cached pages it most likely ends up being worthless.

Another thing to watch out for is fake PR.

Use domainface for locating domains and bestseosuite for sucking out the cached pages. Saves time.

If you want to save this PR5, don't forget to build new backlinks to old content and new content. Usually it helps.

sucks bad!

I would go with option #3 too. - Use the waybackmachine and try to rebuild the page as good as possible. Then start changing little things from time to time to save the authority.

Check to see if there is any major difference b/w historical and fresh backlinks in Majestic.
Most of the times in sector like "payday loans" ,they rent links on monthly basis. So,after link is removed;your PR/authority might be lost.
