As some of you guys know, I have access to a TON of affordable college-educated labor. I was thinking of building a search engine that is powered by personally researched responses. Do you think this will work?

Currently, I'd like it to focus mostly on generating traffic so I'd like it to have the ability to get a lot of searches. I'll worry about monetizing it later.

WHAT KIND of features would you want it to have for YOU to put a link to it on your sites?

I had a somewhat similar idea the other day about creating search engines for exclusively for certain topics.
Say you want a search engine that is all about food, and it gives exclusively and strictly websites within that topic.
It sounds really stupid I guess because what is Google for?
But perhaps it could be used as a stupid marketing ploy more than something that has more value than a sophisticated search like google.
Perhaps this "niche search engine" could house a directory, article submission, and a forum all in one "portal".

Oh hell, I just described Yahoo now that I think about it...

You also described About.Com :) Not a bad model.
