I'm covering the entry fee for those people. He's offering to also pay for the domain.
If someone can't afford $7 for a domain name, how will they pay the $25 entry fee? Or will you cover that too?

True story,How will anyone that can't afford $25 or a $7 domain name even have a chance of winning the contest anyway?
True story,
A few years back Enigmabomb linked me to a large 2 month SEO contest that was going to end in 2 weeks for some company as a promotion. We decided to join in at the last minute and we even made an extra rule for ourselves that we couldn't spend a single dollar or use any commercial seo services. We won both 1st and 2nd prize.
But that's not the point obviously. The point is to get more people involved and let those that want to use it as a first time learning experience participate. The contest is having fun and helping the community.
I really can't wait to watch this, and I'm so glad WF is doing another ranking competition.
No point in me trying to take part though.
My only issue is that I wish the duration was 1 or 2 months instead of 1... 1 month is definitely a major advantage for pure blackhatters.
