The Internet wouldn't be what it is today without the Government funding the first big push to get the cables ran from Europe to here, or running the lines around the country before the telecom companies saw it was going to be profitable.

Now, do I think it's good for the FTC to consider letting Charter, AT&T, etc. curb my bandwidth usage (drop me from 3mbps+ to 756kbps-) or charge me additional fees for watching videos or downloading stuff after I already pay a monthly subscription for unlimited usage? No.

One thing I do like about Europe's structure is that there are many telecom companies to choose from, so you always get good speeds and they don't fuck with your bandwidth. Sadly, there are only a few carriers (often a single depending on your location) in the US to choose from. So you're held by the balls.
