If you want to test if you are a libertarian or not, it is pretty simple.

Do you believe that the use of aggressive force (initiation of force) is an acceptable way of interacting socially?

Aggressive force is not defensive force. Force for defense is fine with libertarianism.

If you feel it is morally right to steal, threaten or hurt others who have not done anything to you, then you are an authoritarian. If you believe that it is morally wrong to act socially through force, threats, coercion etc, then you are a libertarian.

It is not any more complicated than that. Left and Right are horizontal abstractions of a vertical paradigm.
