Anyone catch Shoemoney's show on monday?

How unfortunate for the serious, advanced webmasters that they are so out of touch with their good sense.

The radio show was horrible. There was no flow, the questions were horrible, and the answers were just as bad. Yes, I sat through the entire thing. Both Markus and Shoemoney to stuck to written text because their oral communication skills are lacking.

Half the people in the chat room are Internet millionaires?? ... please...
 


I've only heard the show with Lee of Forumtrends, and it wasn't so bad - I think mainly because Lee came off as being such a personable guy. The amount of ads they played though was irritating, and there was almost no real information given. Listen to Lee's own Won Lee Do Sho for some good info from Lee (and Won [Juan?]) :)

I don't really know much about Shoemoney, though, so I won't base my comments on him personally - he just does a boring podcast :(
 
Radio shows such as Shoemoney's seem to be the latest fad for webmasters to get into but I think a few are finding out that just because it doesn't cost much to set up a microphone and record an hour long show, that doesn't mean that everyone should do it.

Radio presenting is almost a performance skill and just because you can make a lot of money from building websites doesn't mean that you have the on air skills to pull off presenting a show about it.

Shoemoney isn't the only person not quite getting it right at the minute but maybe a bit more experience will improve things for him and he can make the transition from writing an interesting blog to presenting a better radio show.

Ironically, here is a direct quote from Shoemoney's blog about what he thinks of his radio show, the direction, and how he has probably realized that he's not all that great at it..

I thought it was a ok show. I really thought we would have had more callers like the other shows. I am not sure exactly where I want to take the show either with guests of successful websites or experts with companies. Many people have sugested I get someone from AzoogleAds to come on the show and talk about what they do.

Now that is a radio show [or whatever you want to call it]. Just from the 2 episodes they've released, I've learnt so much.

This episode was not even meant really to be a interview but more a chance to give people a open forum to call in and ask Markus any question they wanted. I doubt its everyday you can call up a guy who profits half a million a month and ask anything you want about whatever.

Anyway my wife just gave birth 4 days prior and I was super unprepared. Not that that is really different then any other show.

Markus was by far the hardest guest I have had on so far cause he gave very brief answers and left me to try to fill a lot of downtime.

As far as the show as a whole i think its hard to say exactly why its so bad. I originally wanted the show to be purely for the people having them call in and take the show in whatever direction the people wanted.

Unfortunatly webmaster radio is very limited in what they can actually do.

I agree pretty much what all you are saying and hopefully you will call in on future shows and ask good questions. (if you can stand to listen to it)

I'm just listening to a Shoemoney show now, I'm about a minute in.. not so boring so far :)
 
Okay Shoemoney, I caved and listened to your latest show after reading good reviews.
It was much more enjoyable. Sorry for being so harsh after listening to your last show with Markus. The time flew by listening to this one.
 
Yup - that show was certainly worth a listen - especially for anyone whos got an interest in promoting their stuff by PPC.
