And my business partner's an idiot

By not believing in the secret you have manifested a business partner who believes but cannot get it to work. You just need to believe and you will attract a business partner who believes and it does work for. You are the cause of this.

.......yeah right.

The Secret is overdone and exaggerated but the basic principles are sound (Think and Grow Rich)

This is sorta what some of the people featured in it have said, such as with the guy here :

As for James Arthur Ray :

Pretty much this.

I'm big into studying personal development and even I think they went way over the top with all the fluff and other garbage.

That entire book is based on ideas from past works (Think and Grow Rich, The Science of Getting Rich, The Laws of Success in 16 Lessons, etc).

The other problem is, even if the ideas are sound and thoroughly explained, people will still find a way to misinterpret them.

The Secret works, but it depends on how you understand and execute it. Its all about motivation.

A lot of books, other movies and etc say the exactly same thing as "the secret", and it is proven that it works. It is just that some people are stupid and think they are going to achieve everything just by thinking. You need to act.

Also, you should never assume you failed because of external events.

We become what we think about. - Earl Nightingale (The Strangest Secret)

If you sit in your living room pretending like a giant faggot you're driving a Bentley, one is not going to magically appear in your living room.

With that in mind, if you wake up every day saying "I'm a huge fucking loser," you're going to be act like and become a huge fucking loser.

The mind is a powerful thing. The Secret turns Napoleon Hill and others' teachings into faggotry for Oprah viewers.

i'm a product of "see you at the top", but i recognize its not much different than "the secret". good shit. for people interesting in quality living, its good stuff.

as to "my business partner is an idiot"... yeah, that happens. get out. tony robbins wont make your biz partner any smarter.

It's cool to dream bro, I dreamed I would one day join a gay webmaster forum, well here I am and there is no turning back now. But really, dreaming and believing is only going to get you so far. You have to remember to be not only a dreamer and a believer but also a realist. You know, lettuce be cereal bros.

Focusing, goal-setting, visualising and affirming definitely make a difference to where your life goes. The reason this knowledge has been a 'secret' for centuries is because the science didn't exist until relatively recently to explain why.

Reality is hugely subjective. The reason is the brain filters most of the stuff that hits you each day, including ideas and opportunities, it's partly to do with the RAS and partly the subconscious. If you feed the subconscious and RAS new ideas through visualising and affirming or whatever else it takes to change the way you perceive the world around you, your mental eyes will literally start to open.

Think about the woman in red in the New York crowd scene from the movie The Matrix. Imagine she's a new idea or solution to a problem. If she were dressed in a black business suit you wouldn't see her. The job of the RAS and subconscious is to dress the information you need in a red dress, so it catches your mental eye.

I am convinced that everything we need is around us, we just need the eyes to see it. But it's not a mystical concept at all. However, the mystical paradigm can help people with a certain mental model of the world absorb this shit and make it work for them.

The problem is the wankers who exploit people who are genuinely seeking help and advice on how to go forward. Salty Droid has done some great write-ups on people from The Secret such as Joe Vitale and James Arthur 'Death' Ray I got a lot from the teaching of Tony Robbins back in the 1990s but the guy seems to have lost it somewhere and become just another money sucking another cult leader.

Coffee over ... back to work.

Actions come from thoughts.

Not always. That's why you see people that have the correct "positive thinking" mindset, they have goals of eg. being rich, they know the correct principles but they still don't act on it.

Though it could be argued that since they don't take action they obviously don't have the required thought process.

PS: Cardine that's a kick ass site you got there.
