i wanna go to the Adtech in NY. never been to anything like this. Is it weird just going alone?

No, it's not weird going on your own. You may find it a bit easier to talk to people if you have someone with you, but if you have a couple of questions ready to ask, you'll soon get confident about talking to people. Everyone is there to talk about IM related stuff and most of the networks will gladly talk to you and help you out if they can.

Also if you arrange a meetup with other WF people and you won't be completely on your own then.
