That's why she's so smart. The most successful marketers understand that the most important thing is for people to make a decision about your product, one way or another. The easiest way to do that is by polarising them.

Everyone feels one way or another about that site - whereas all you can say about her competitors' sites is "meh".

Steve Jobs knew this better than anyone. By dividing the world into Apple fanboys and haters, he's built one hell of a company. I don't know anyone who thinks Apple products are just "ok". They either thing their overpriced, restrictive hipster-toys (like I do), or that they're the greatest thing in the world (like everyone else I know seems to).

What's interesting is that it's a LOT easier to turn a hater into a fan, than it is someone who is ambivalent about you.

EDIT: Looking at that video with Duncan Bannatyne, there is another lesson: no matter how smart a marketer you are, you still need a good financial director. Investors are a way to do this (because they'll insist on it to protect their interests), but you can always find one yourself (which is what Felix Dennis did)
