30,000 More Troops To Afghanistan

Likewise on the right you have the tards that are all like OMGZ he's an arab and he's gonna give Texas and our white women to Al Qeada and if you voted for him you're the 19th hijacker! And all along he's been one of the most hawkish on Afghanistan.

I wouldn't exactly say 'Hawkish' (though 'tippytoe' comes to mind).

Is he really going to give Texas to Al Qeada? I better get out of here.

I won't bore you with arguments against our commitment to the Afghan theater. There are many, and not enough time to do them justice.

However, from the perspective of the commitment's impact on Obama's future political leverage, Zelizer has a few interesting points here...

Obama faces risk of a wartime presidency - CNN.com

And mildly related, here's a great read for those who may be suspicious of the profit-making ventures made possible by war...

WAR IS A RACKET - Major General Smedley D. Butler - USMC Retired

The time table was put in place to calm the fucking, ignorant raving left. NO ONE can set a time table on a war. It is absolutely ignorant to believe that you can predict when the situation will be ready for American troops to come home.

Did I not just fucking say that? Sorry I used bigger words or some shit.

No, I'd say hawkish. He was the first to suggest sending predators into Pakistan to take out high priority targets and he got slammed for it. Soon after, that's exactly what Bush did, sent predators over the Pakistani border.
He said he would immediately send thousands of troops into afgahnistan after taking office, he ordered 17,000 I think within the first month of taking office. He's now ordering 30k more.

If that's not hawkish then what is?

It really sucks balls, because we elected him to get us out of there and Iraq. Nobody wins in Afghanistan (go ask the Russians and the British). It's lose-lose for us.

Evidently you didn't really listen to the platform that BO ran on (just like most of his voters). While he did say he wanted out in Iraq, he stated that afghanistan was the war that we needed to be in. He promised to escalate the war and destroy the enemy. He is just living up to his campaign promises.

Next time you might ignore the tingle running up your leg for the candidate and actually inform yourself on his policy, before voting for him.

It's sick to see the President of the United States politicize our troops and a war where soldiers are dying. But thats what we get for voting in a hack that has no life experience outside of attending class and rounding up poor people to paint park benches.
So if he decided to pull out he'd a raving liberal al Queda wannabe. Now that he's carrying out your preferred agenda, he's politicized it and using the troops for his own gains.

Is there any way to do right by popeye?

The liberal elitism is wearing me very thin. I was wondering who was going to take over for Riddar when she's gone.

1) I made his exact point, which he either ignored, missed, or didn't understand

2) He again made a point its a bad thing that Barack Obama is educated, he used "attending classes" as a knock on him. I don't give a fuck who you are, having degrees from Columbia and Harvard is not a bad thing. It will never be a bad thing.

You get sick of liberal elitism, I get sick of celebrated ignorance. I will take extreme issue with anyone who thinks thats that being a community organizer or highly educated is a negative. I know its a page out of Karl Rove's playbook (turning positives into negatives) but it doesn't fly with me.

Let the dogs of war lose. Why go in and "PLAY WAR". All these idiots stating that we can't win. The Brits and the Russians couldn't! Untie the hands of the trained killers that have been sent there and they will get the job done and be home in a year.

It's the reason we lost Vietnam. It's the reason the Iraq war dragged on and it will eventually be the reason we lose the current conflict.

Having a few degrees and being a community organizer is not the experience needed to make a President.

I can't believe that you are even arguing this.

Its also not a bad thing you fucking tard.

PS he was also a law professor, a representative, and a Senator. Good thing you didn't mention any of that.

A good friend of mine who is a ranking officer in the national guard drunkenly volunteered to go to Afghanistan the other night. I'm not happy about it. He's another Iraq vet that just wasn't the same when he came back (the second time).

Well sure it's not a BAD thing! but real life experience (running a business, being in the millitary etc.) is more important. I know plenty of people with advanced degrees that are really book smart but dumb as rocks when it comes to real life.

He was a Senator for what....like 2.5 years and he had 129 "PRESENT" votes. I think (as well as the majority of Americans) his track record so far shows that he is way over his head.

Actually a pity that nobody did bring up the "law professor" part. After all, isn't that where he met all of his socialist friends?

don't we have enough problems and deficits in our own country to tend to? our "house" isn't exactly clean.
