On the firing line
I'm not a journalist, so if the questions aren't insightful enough, too bad, write your own.

Anyhow, I thought it might be interesting to see what we could pry out of some of the super affiliates and Mike was kind enough to be the first to respond to my little questionaire. If this appeals to people, I may try to get an email interview per week. Let me know what you think.

okay read, although mk seems to open up more posting on threads than he did with you. was recruiting him 20 people not good enough? ;)

I learned that Mike's favorite site is copeac and is willing to offer an underdeveloped niche + his first born.

I did this really fast and wasnt really focused on quality answers. If you want to ask anything specific let me know.

Sorry, but most of the questions and the answers are kind of weak.
The celebrity question... or the personality trait question ---- who cares?

In future interviews maybe ask more about their sucesses and failures, their favorite tools, favorite books, favorite sites other then their own, etc.

yevlesh: Just look at some of the business related questions, he doesn't go into detail. Would make an even more worseless interview if he was to ask business related shit.

But super affiliate, 6 figures a month, fucking hell that would be sweet cash

I decided i would better answer some of these questions. When it was sent to me i did it more in fun than giving some real information. So here is Take 2.

1. What advice do you have for new affiliate marketers?
Read WickedFire.com

2. What is the biggest mistake you see people make in AM?
They are to lazy and don't put the time and effort in to the campaigns they make. They also think making money online is easy

3. Do you have a favorite website? If so what is it?
Copeac.com :)

4. Any recommended reading? Blogs, books, forums, newspapers, etc?
read everything and anything, be aware of what is going on around you in life. it will help spark ideas. Also i would recommend that you read Freakonimics its a great book on how everything in life is related to a previous event. It talks about why Crack dealers still live with their mom, and how baby names and the parents that raise them shape how a kid will turn out.

5. What skills do you believe are necessary to succeed in this business?
Technical skills are important, also sales skills. You also must have a desire to succeed and will to persevere. I also think that reading between the lines is important in helping you realize new techniques in how to market online.

6. Name a niche that has potential, but is under promoted.
Cosmetic Surgery. there by far isnt enough in the cosmetic surgery area online, you see it all day long on TV but online there isnt much marketing in this space except on google by surgeons who have no clue.

7. One page landing pages, or multi-page sites?
depends on where the traffic comes from and what you're promoting, nothing in affiliate marketing is black or white.

8. PPC vs. SEO
again depends on your end goal.

9. What led you to affiliate marketing?
ummmmm the $$$$$$ maybe? Also the fun and excitement of an industry that is ever evolving and changes daily. I like change so the internet is perfect for me.

10. Who is/was your biggest influence in this business?
My HS English teacher who told me I would amount to nothing in life.

11. Where do you see this industry in 5 years?
bigger than it is now, with a lot of the current major players falling apart and dying off to the new breed. Those players will fall off due to not evolving in their business model, or being to reliant on one type of offer.

12. If you could promote one niche or product only, what would it be?
Anything financial since money will never go away

13. What celebrity do you think would make a good affiliate marketer and why?
SEO Mike /edit/ MK said this NOT ME..... I really dont care about celebrities, why dream about their life when you can spend time working on your dreams. Many times i have been near a celebrity and it doesnt excite me at all.

14. Are there common personality traits amongst AM's?
being friendly, out-going, genuine, and trustworthy.

15. At what level is someone considered a "Super Affiliate"?
6 figures a month or bigger

16. Any secrets you want to share?
Dont listen to people who say such and such market is saturated or not profitable anymore, yet they are still promoting that market hard

17. When researching a new niche, what is the most important factor that you evaluate?
If it appeals to me or not.

18. How much are you willing to spend in time and money before deciding that a niche is not worth it?
Since I invest more in services and businesses it varies based on the potential upside of the investment.

19. What keeps you motivated and excited when things are slow or in a downturn?
Things are never slow

20. Final thoughts on affiliate marketing that you would like to share?
To me it seems that the big guys get lazy and complacent in AM, they built something to a nice size and forget to keep looking over their shoulder at the next guy coming up behind them, before they know it their business is smaller and they don't know why. Bill Gates said it was the guy in a garage that kept him up at night worrying, you should think the same way

Thanks Mike! I like the last line in #20 the best!

To everyone else, I'll work on the questions and hit someone else up for next week. If you have suggestions, please post them or PM me.

Nice work on the new answers mk. But people shouldn't be waiting for a sweet secret, as if mk would do that

Good info, thanks Mike & Mark. :)

If I could add to #16, being a little bit stubborn & thick-skinned in the biz can really help too. When someone says to you that niche will never work, it's a nice feeling to prove to yourself that it can be profitable.

Glad to see people enjoyed this. I would like to do more of these, so if you have some questions you would like asked of the "heavy hitters", send me a PM. Also, please send me suggestions for future "email interviews".
