$1000 bitcoin

Exactly: You just significantly increased that homeless man's net worth..

Good analogy.

Only until he buys in on another hit of crack which sends him soaring and giddy with excitement, until he crashes hours later and tries to buy in again while down.

I guess what I'm saying is bitcoin = crack

anyone have good links to articles talking about litecoin? (other than mining)
Is it even accepted for payment anywhere? thx

I've only seen litecoin accepted on 1 site, it was a site on the onion network offering to dox people for money and you could pay in litecoin.

Never seen any "real" sites accepting it. And the official litecoin forum itself is pretty useless, nobody knows the answers to basic questions and they're pretty inactive. IMO litecoin right now is in the same place bitcoin was in back in 09, except the value is inflated simply because bitcoin has already done the work to promote the ideology.

I agree. I dont see litecoin being accepted as actual payment, at least for a while. For that reason, i dont see it going up in value, unless you can make purchases with it.

But, in 2009 you could buy 5000 bitcoins for $27. It might be worth buying some, in case things change.

Yeah I picked up a few g's of ltc a couple months ago just on the offchance that it takes off. Just transferred it to a paper wallet and gonna sit on it for a year.

They really need to get a real marketer to consult with them or something though. The official forums are a trollfest, and I felt a lot more skeptical about litecoin after reading their site when it *should* be the other way around.

Ya, BTC is going back to where it was a couple of weeks ago.
The market places need to make it easier for people to actually by them online and make the process faster.

I can't even imagine a not so savvy tech person ever being able to buy some or use them if they wanted to.

Of course the current $ system will do all it can to not make it an easy process moving forward.

Pretty bad rumors are coming out of China currently.

China Bans Payment Companies from Working With Bitcoin Exchanges, Sources Claim

A reputable source told CoinDesk that the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) met with most of the top third-party payment companies this morning.

The source said the meeting topic was unrelated to bitcoin, but digital currency became an important part of the discussion.

“PBOC, in no uncertain terms, directed third-party payment companies not to do business with bitcoin exchanges in China,” they explained.

The PBOC also said that merchants could no longer price their goods and services in bitcoin and couldn’t exchange their wares for bitcoin.

Not sure why people are surprised. China fixes it's currency against the dollar, yen, euro and sterling and operates currency controls.

So the demand for bitcoin wasn't because people were into cryptocurrencies it was because they saw a way to circumvent their currency controls. Change to bitcoin, go to Switzerland on a business meeting, swap your bitcoin to dollars, euros, swiss francs or whatever in a local bitcoins deal, then deposit said currency in a numbered swiss account.

The Chinese are into fiat, just not their own fiat, and the authorities suddenly realised what was actually going on...

Murder by Crowd Sourcing - Bitcoin

The juice the feds will use to shut Bitcoin down (since they'll get other countries involved) is that Bitcoin is being used to crowd source assassinations of public figures.

China won't stand for it either. Good luck making money before it gets wiped out, the powers that be want to keep in control.

The Cryptocalypse goes on... There was 3 bottoms: 500, 400 and 266.. we are under 500 now @gox and when it do not rebounds its will go deeper. LTC is doing pretty good but at 14 too.

Fun to watch how Billions vanish to nothing.

fun to watch how people think 12 million bitcoins are each worth 1170 because 3 of them are traded at that price.

Bitcoin is afraid of me... I have seen its true face.

The websites are extended gutters and the gutters are full of losses and when the drains finally clog, all of the speculators will drown.

The accumulated filth of all their greed and ignorance will foam up about their waists and all the shills and fanatics will look up and shout "Save us!"...

and I'll look down and whisper "No."
