$1000 bitcoin

Don't be a little propaganda repeater. Fiat paper dollars are way more practical and hide-able than any cryptocurrency is. This is why black markets are still mostly cash based.

But.. i thought?

With Blockchain we stand and we will fall

When used for drugs, bitcoins are awesome because they are untraceable. When used for bribery, bitcoins are the most transparent shit out there.

forget about LTC and BTC

i sold all my bitcoins and went all-in the newest cryptocurrency that's gonna hit it off:

you forget about the whole "convenience of bitcoins that makes it superior to cash transactions" argument. you of all ppl should know this :p. you've mentioned it many times yourself. it means not having to move around with a suitcase full of cash. try travelling internationally (airport checks, etc) with a suitcase full of cash. but you can carry around $1million worth of btc in a usb stick. np. heck, you can just do no traveling at all and send the btc online. can't do this with cash.

having said that, bitcoin transactions are open to everyone to see on the blockchain, so you'd need to be careful how you conduct the transactions :cool2: 0therwise it could be traced. not nearly as incognito as we once thought.

I know if I were trying to sell some uranium or a kilo of crack I'd be damn sure to not leave a record of my payment on any blockchains.

Of course it's more convenient; but people who are facing serious penalties already have more hidden ways to get paid than using a blockchain to record their transaction for everyone in the world to see.

Even if mixed well; they should be scared that one day a technology could 'un mix' those coins again and they'd be busted... USD is safer to launder.

On a seperate topic, I thought this was a tad bit interesting:

Bitcoin is the Future, Not NFC, Says PayPal President David Marcus

Basically, the president of Paypal is a bitcoin fan.

I seem to recall him saying he was a fan & owner of bitcoin quite some time ago.

Andreessen Horowitz Invests $25 Million in Bitcoin Wallet Coinbase - Jason Del Rey - Commerce - AllThingsD

This is good news, at the moment I see most "users" of bitcoin not actually using it as a currency but rather buying and hoarding with expectation of making bigger returns (in USD) when the value goes up.

But to do that it has to actually be a real currency and we it needs innovators and massive funding to progress beyond a conspiracy theorist fad (sorry lukep) to nurture it and smash it to the next level.

Kind of like how hotmail took the inherently inaccessible and complicated protocol of email and made it easy for the masses to just logon and use.

So this is good news - silicon valley are the ones who will commercialize this and make it viable as a currency rather than a hobbyist's dream.

Because start up investment payoffs conform to power law, a $25 million investment is just a small bet placed on Coinbase.

If it pays off, great. If not, it's a small loss in their portfolio offset by the gains on the next Instagram or whatever.

I'd be skeptical about reading too much into that investment.

wallstreet investing hundreds of millions is like dropping a homeless a dollar.

anyone have good links to articles talking about litecoin? (other than mining)
Is it even accepted for payment anywhere? thx
