It was a Facebook app? If it was, can't FB just disable it and then all the traffic goes away?

Pretty crazy story though considering that kind of stuff is still possible and that Adsense and/or Facebook hasn't disabled it yet.

Because Google absolutely loves this, and their ad serving is the best available with no effort needed on his part for advertisment tweaking. Besides any other sponsors would probably cave on him. But to Google, it's a huge fuck you to their biggest competitor. They should support him all the way.

Exactly, but Google will likely face pressure and eventually severe ties. Still, he shouldn't have any problem selling inventory :D
